We didn't have a nanny, but paid the person a set price for overnight care for what turned out to be from about lunch time the day my water broke until the next morning when my husband went to pick up my son. It's a little different because my mom is a short flight away and not necessarily able to hop on a plan short notice this time.</p> <p>We will have on of our sitters on stand by, and it might end up being a while before my mom can come and relive her. I had the children during the vast majority of daytime hours anyway, so just kept my phone on at night and was ready to cancel after work plans. I loved my work family. No bonus for being on call, but I got a flat fee for coming at 2am, I think. I had done overnights for flat fees before and I think it was the same. Or maybe it was time and a half from them until the normal day time, I forget. When I've been on call for jobs, it has included a small (I'm a social worker, so, you know, peanuts) daily stipend. I don't think you need to pay her extra for the entire on-call period, but maybe give her a nice bonus and a gift for going out of her way to be helpful? AKA come to the house and wait for our family to arrive. I'm sure she will be agreeable to it, but I'm wondering how I should address paying her in this scenario? Obviously, I'll pay her for it. If it's overnight, should I pay her time and a half? Do I need to pay her for generally being "on call" for me as I get closer to labor?? I have about 6 months to figure it out :silly: </p>
