@daniellemybelle: She probably will. If you pay more than $1,900 in 2015 to your household employee, you need to withhold Social Security and Medicare. (See here: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p926.pdf )

@macintosh: I would ask a couple of accountants what they would charge to help you out to get a ballpark.

The two jobs I had that bothered with taxes used accountants to handle it. I'm not sure how relatively complicated the taxes in CO were though.

I did it myself- the tax calculator from 4nannytaxes.com, read enough to figure out the unemployment taxes, and use TurboTax to do the end of year taxes. It was insanely overwhelming at first.

@jape14: I'll check that out. Intuit isn't available in IL either.

We have a FT nanny (in a nanny share) and we use Savvy Nanny for taxes. I've heard the intuit online software is good but we can't use it in our state.

I just hired a nanny for one day a week and looking at the nanny tax rules has me overwhelmed. The state of IL seems to have some special rules, too.

I looked at a couple of web based nanny tax services and they are soooo expensive! I don't have time to figure out all the rules on how to do it myself. I was thinking about trying to find a CPA to help, but not sure if that's any cheaper.

What have you done for nanny taxes? Anyone use a service they like? Anyone do it themselves?
