We were wary of nannies since we had no personal recommendations due to just moving to the area. We chose day care because of the oversight it provides. Many teachers and accountability was a plus for us. If we had known someone we trusted who had a great recc, we would have considered it!

I'm really a fan of daycares because of the socialization and activities. However, if you can afford a nanny PLUS all the extra activities that take the baby outside the house then a nanny is great. I like the idea of a nanny because the baby is not stimulated all day with other children and having to participate, to me there seems to be more downtime. I'm going to go with nanny, you have more control. FOOD in your Pro column sealed the deal for me.

I think if I could/had to choose, I'd pick Nanny. If not that, In-home daycare.

I would prefer a nanny because I'd love the one-on-one attention. Are there any other kids you know nearby for playdates to help with socialization, learning to share etc?

Nanny or nanny share if I had to personally. The daycares in my price range here aren't very good.

Let's create a list of pro's and cons! I may have the option of either come fall. I've had three people offer to be my nanny when they heard I was looking for daycare and they're all willing to work with me regarding pay.

Nanny:
- Cobi can easily keep his nap schedule
- one-on-one care
- eats our healthy food at home
- usually more $$
- can go out for field trips
- nanny can possibly help with light clean up during naps
- in home, so it's more comfortable
- less likely to get sick

Day care:
- more opportunities for socialization
- along with socialization, learning to share, get along with others, "make friends"
- usually cheaper than a nanny
- often there is structure/routine
- sometimes more activities or "program" with learning opportunities
- pay is per day/week so if I need an extra hour it doesn't matter (assuming he's there 8 hours a day)

What else? What did/would you choose?
