Although the gifts were incredibly generous, it wasn't about what they were-it was about the fact that they cared enough to do something that was so touching. We try and spoil our part-time nanny on her birthday and over the holidays. She is a college student, and she seems to really appreciate getting nice gifts and cards since she's paying for her school and activities, and can't get things like that for herself. Another thing you could do is suggest they plan something extra fun for the day?
