Rough nap day here today! DS is 13 months, and he had a nice long morning nap, but fighting the afternoon. He would come really close to falling asleep in my arms, but the second I put him down in his crib he would cry. He's now just been hanging out in his crib for the past 20 minutes babbling away. I don't think he's ready to drop a nap yet, because I'm still getting sleepy cues from him so I think it's just one of those days. Hang in there. And as far as teething goes I agree with lawbee11. DS is super clingy when his teeth are bothering him.

@Foodnerd81: Hmmm M is down to one nap most days but she also gets 13 hours of overnight sleep so when she was on 2 it was just too much. If she woke up at 6 she'd definitely need 2 naps. Is she clingy? That's always my first sign that M is teething.

@lawbee11: for the last few months, it's been roughly ten hours at night, up around six. 1.5 hour morning nap, 1 hour afternoon nap. Lately she's been taking longer morning naps- like 2+ hours, so when the afternoon nap on those days was hard, I understood. But now it's like normal morning nap and still no afternoon. She has started occasionally sleeping slightly later- like 6:30 or even 7, and I haven't figured out how to adjust naps for that.

I think I need to try out one nap, but that's just going to mess with our whole routine! On the bright side we will be able to so morning activities soon I guess.

@Foodnerd81: How much sleep does she get overnight and when she takes 2 naps how long is each nap?

@Foodnerd81: R would take one nap at day care for 2-3 months but still needed two at home, till she adjusted to just one at home. You might just have to play with it for awhile. Or let her nap for 30 mins max in the morning, so she takes a better afternoon?

@Smurfette: But she'll go back to taking 2 really good naps for several days, which makes me think it was a fluke... But, I may be in denial, really.

For the last few weeks, really, C (almost 13 months) has been fighting her naps several times a week. It used to be that the morning nap was a given, but afternoon was hit or miss. Now she is even fighting that precious, wonderful morning nap.

I don't really understand. I'm timing things right, she seems nice and sleepy but not overtired when I put her down, then the crying starts. Sometimes in the afternoon I can nurse her to sleep but I have to stay with her, but more often than not she won't even sleep then.

I know she will be dropping to one nap soon enough, but I don't think she is ready yet. She didn't really eat much lunch today either, and I'm thinking teething but not sure, so hate to medicate....

I don't really think there is any advice to offer her, just.... it sucks. Anyone else have some really rough nap days around 1? Night time sleep, thankfully, is pretty much fine.
