@ALV91711: I agree!! But I don't care what she naps on if she will nap for 3 hours at day care.

@Smurfette: They seem so little to be sleeping on cots. I wouldn't mind one nap, except the days he has done it have been about 9-11am. Too early, but he can barely make it to 8:30am without being cranky and ready for sleep.

I'm going to find a short book tomorrow and start.

@ALV91711: try the book idea! One nap will help him, at least everyone tells me that. I can't wait for R to move up so she will hopefully nap better. Once she is over 12 months and in the next room they nap on cots and not cribs. But I imagine day care is different in Canada since no one really starts till after one.

@Foodnerd81: Teething is evil and sure does mess with sleep. I may have to try the book idea. We used to do a bedtime story but he would just be too fussy and ready for bed and we never got through a book so we dropped it.

@Freckles: He's on two naps. I'm almost thinking he might transition to one soon, there have been a handful of times in the last couple weeks that he has just taken one long nap. But I'm not ready for one nap yet.

@Smurfette: He will be in the baby room (until 18 months). He will most likely be the youngest though. They have one nap time after their lunch for everyone, but they will nap them at other times if needed. So he will be in a crib in the dark there with all the other babies.

I guess I will just have to tough it out and let him cry.

Routine routine!! But I agree with everyone sounds like he just needs to be nap trained. Hugs Mama!!

And don't worry about day. Babies are totally different when not at home. Plus he will be in the toddler room, right? So they might not even be in cribs and everyone will be napping at the same
time.

How many naps is he on now? 2 or 3? could he be transitioning?

I also try to keep things fairly calm about 30 minutes before nap time. A simple nap routine would be helpful as well, to cue to your LO that it's time to sleep.

I wouldn't worry too much about daycare. I used to nurse to sleep and was worried about LO, but she will go down without any issues.

We had to do bedtime and nap training separately. What worked for us (most of the time!) is having a very similar routine for both-- change, sleep sack, Going to Bed book, song, down in the crib. Maybe if you had a book after the bath at bed time, then also include that book at nap time, it would help cue baby that it's sleepy time?

95% of the time now my LO goes down with just a little bit of fussing, but every once in a while, for no apparent reason, she just cries unless we rock her to sleep. I blame teething because that's the scape goat for everything these days.

@hilsy85: Ok, that is what I'll aim for. Relaxation before nap!

@hilsy85: I'm thinking this is what I'm going to have to do. Did you just put him down awake after your routine or was he drowsy?

I'm thinking we'll have to do diaper change, short story and a song. His bedtime routine is bath with his dad, no stories or anything.

I should add before I started the training, I started with a really strong nap routine that was the same every time, and very similar to our bedtime routine.

It sounds like he needs help putting himself to sleep for naps. We did nap training at 13.5 months to help him get to sleep after I stopped nursing to sleep. It took like 2 days--it was seriously so easy. I did checks after 5, 7, and 10 minutes for the first nap--he cried 35 min total, and the slept for like an hour 10 minutes. The 2nd nap he cried for SIX minutes. The next day, he cried ONE minute his first nap, and not at all his 2nd nap.

I need help/advice

DS is 10 months and is refusing to nap in his crib. I'm just at a loss of what to do. He will nap snuggled up in my bed with me. He starts daycare in March and this needs to change ASAP.

Last weekend he took an almost 2 hour nap in his crib and this morning 20 minutes.

I normally rock him to sleep as he naps after meals and nurses after naps. If I put him in the crib either asleep or drowsy he screams. Not crying, not fussing but screaming like he is mad. I put his glow worm on which calms him at night but no luck.

What would you do? Am I going to just have to let him scream?

At night I can put him in his crib drowsy and he will fall asleep without even fussing.
