We're 12 weeks and still have an hour and 15 min awake time. I've noticed in the last week she's getting more distracted so we have to take her to a quiet place, dim the lights or cover the stroller with a blanket to get her down.

@Kemma: Yes this could be! That's another constant conflict for me. Do we start a nap at the first signs of being tired even if it hasn't been long? Or start to push wake times to 1.5 hours? When he gets overtired it turns into a screaming fit so it's such a fine balance!

Does anyone else feel their whole day is spent trying to get their baby to sleep and stay asleep?!?

Is it possible your wee guy needs to be awake for longer so he’s tired enough for a decent sleep? Some babies get stuck in an undertired-overtired cycle where they’re overtired due to the short naps but going to bed too soon so they’re undertired and only do a short nap.

I remember thinking the same exact thing when my son was younger. Always worried I was going to create bad habits. I seriously stressed myself out on it. Looking back now, after sleep training my son is a great night and nap sleeper (fingers crossed I don't jinx myself), I wish I didn't worry so much. I wish I just did whatever worked back then. My son loved sleeping in the swing, I should have just let that happen. My two sense because you are planning on sleep training is to just do what works now. It will all get resolved when sleep training.

At that age, I do what works. I think my son mostly napped on me for about the first four months.

My son is 11 weeks. His naps are absolute crap. He'll nap in the Rock n Play for 20mins max. That's after 10mins of me rocking to get him drowsy. He can be awake for about an hour max before getting really cranky and needing to sleep again. I feel like if his naps were longer, he'd have more/happier awake time.

I'm constantly going back in to put the paci back in or rock him back to sleep. He will nap for much longer (1-2 hours) in the Tula carrier. I'm happy to do that most days, but I'm worried it will create a bad habit. I'd like to get him used to sleeping on his own for naps.

We will do sleep training sometime around 4-6 months, but until then, what do I do?! I won't let him CIO at this point. I'm really torn between creating long-lasting habits (helping him sleep alone) or just doing what works right now(carrier). How do you handle this age's naps?!?!
