i created one when we started nap training.

1) about 10 minutes before nap time, dim the lights a little bit and play quietly. no flashing toys, etc.
2) put in sleep sack.
3) read three books.
4) put over shoulder and pat back while singing twinkle twinkle little star.
5) put in crib and say night night charlie.
6) turn on white noise machine, turn off lights and leave.

I put my LO on his playmatt at the 1hr mark so I can tell when he gets sleepy.. then right around the 1 hr 15 min - 1 hr 25 min... I close the curtains, swaddle him, turn on the white noise, sing him a song while cradling him... then I put him down sleepy but awake... usually takes about 5 - 10 minutes

Great nap routine. I love your step by step instructions. I have been told that consistency is key.

I just created our nap routine just last night - I even printed it up on pretty paper and placed it on LO's wardrobe for my mom or MIL to follow if they are watching her (and what perfect timing, MIL stopped by this afternoon and we showed it to her and had her do all the steps before putting LO down)

1) Put LO in comfortable clothing or sleep sack (if she's wearing play clothes or something like jeans)
2) Put over shoulder and pat back for one minute
3) Cradle and shush for one minute
4) Turn on sound machine
5) Say, "It's napping time, Sweetheart, I love you."
6) Turn off lights and leave.

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to know if others have an actual nap routine? I have not been consistent but I now realize that my lo prefers routines and schedules. So far the only consistent part of our nap routine is bringing him upstairs and rocking him.

Just wanted some ideas on how to help soothe him a little bit. I used to nurse him down but we have stopped that as we started nap training and he was not stayinng asleep for a very long time when he was nursed down.

Any ideas would be great!
