@anacarlin: I know! We're the same here. He doesn't have much trouble at night. Just during naps as well. I have started to put him awake for his swing napping and I'll sing two songs to him and he'll give me the biggest smiles. Then I walk out and he cries. The cry times are getting less and less now. So I guess I'm sort of nap training but on the swing so I'm not counting that as really nap training until he naps in his crib. I can't wait. LOL!

We did nap and bedtime together as well. Might as well get it over with at the same time. Our biggest struggle now is that he likes the swaddle. I'm still using the miracle blanket w/o the feet pocket b/c he's too long for it now. So I combine that with the sleep sack and he's out. Although, he's only swaddled at night. He swing naps during the daytime but I'd like to move him to crib napping soon. I feel bad to have to tell my 3 y.o. to play quietly. Poor thing...

We did both nap and bedtime training for our first at the same time at 6.5 months. Our napped trained our second a little earlier at 4/5 months but just for one nap - she did cry. Then eventually we were able to her down for her other naps and bedtime awake with no crying at all.

@ rubies:I'm willing to look into but I'd probably do better if someone was with me! Maybe one weekend when DH is home

@runsyellowlites: she is pretty much tired every 60-90 mins depending how long she was awake before eating. Maybe something more routine would be better.

I'm starting nap-training with DD today & shes 4.5 mths! She's great at bedtime but lately she's been a terrible napper, fighting even the thought of sleep, and fussing most of the time she's awake. =(

This morning I kind of started "The 90 Minute Sleep Program" where 90 minutes after she's woken up, whether it be this morning or from a nap, I lay her down for a nap.

So far it's going REALLY great!

She woke up about 7:30 and at 9 rocked/patted her 15 minutes and laid her down. She woke 30 minutes later, nursed, and was HAPPY the entire 90 minutes) she was up! Laid her down again at 11 (took 10 minutes) and she slept 40 minutes! She nursed and AGAIN was happy the whole time she was up! At 1:15 I put her down but it took a little longer bc she was really awake/alert, so I nursed her and she was out by 1:40. She JUST woke up (2:45) and is now quietly lounging with me while I type this! We haven't had to CIO either!

My conclusion..... By the time I read her tired cues she was too tired. Today has been amazing compared to the last month, I almost can't believe she's been so content!

It may be something to look into!

We nap-trained at the same time as night-training when LO was 3.5 months (a little young to most people but our decision was based on many things)...Anyway, I followed "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child", which worked wonders but it does require crying it out.

Is 4.5 months too young to nap train? DD used to be SUV a great sleeper. I mean, would sleep throug anything and go to sleep anywhere. Now she fights it so hard except at bedtime. As soon a she is tired she starts screaming and insists on being held/rocked to sleep and cannot be put down.

Do I just let her cry? I don't know if I can do that! I try and catch her sleepy before she realizes it. I also have to cover both of us in A&A blanket so she can't see anything because she's so distracted. Ughhh!
