I can't add my own experience because I don't have the guts to do it (but LO seems to be naturally improving, so I could also be lucky), but I remembered this blog post that might be of some help to you?

No real answer to your question because I am a nap training dropout! I will say I wish I had nap trained at around the age your LO is. We sleep trained then at bedtime, and retrained a few times, but we always felt like naps were too hard & so I would hold her / rock her / etc. Now they are awful and she's 10 months old and it's so much harder. So I think you are doing the right thing!

My LO is almost 4 months old, I know short naps are common at this age. At this point, I'm holding him for every.single.nap. I'm wanting to train him soon, not to lengthen his naps, but to teach him to fall asleep in his crib. (He is fine at night in the same crib!)
I keep reading how difficult it is to nap train. I'm just wondering how long I can expect to have to train LO before I can actually set him in his crib without World War III erupting every time? What was your experience? Fwiw, I am planning to use extinction CIO.
Oh, and if you had to cancel naps because LO reached the maximum crying time, how was nighttime sleep affected?
