Oh no...I totally missed that in your initial post!

Yes! S unfortunately gave up his second nap at 10 months...so he was only on 1 nap. I'm jealous of your 2 naps!

And I hear you about the lovey...S has the Fisher Price seahorse. We call him Sal! I know when it goes over since it's a pretty loud thump and I feel awful when he can't get it back. But he definitely didn't throw it over on day 2 when he realized that I didn't come and get it on day 1.

Our kids are too smart!!

Ugh...them throwing the lovey over the crib is the worst. It's like they know how to get you back in the room and they're doing everything they possibly can to get you in there!

While we didn't nap train as a toddler, we did it later. S was 10 months and was able to pull himself up and stand in the crib. It was hard at first, but we repeated the CIO method that we used at 4.5 months when we night trained him.

The first day, he didn't nap at all. Just on and off cried for a full hour and a half. I finally went in and got him out of the crib, but then wouldn't let him nap on me, and I wouldn't rock him. The second day, he cried on and off for an hour, then fell asleep for a half hour. The third day, cried a half hour and then was on and off sleeping for a total of an hour and a half. Finally, the fourth day, he started getting the hang of it...he would cry when I put him down, but that time got shorter and his nap time got longer.

Now, I'll put him down, and he won't cry, but he'll fall asleep anywhere between 15 to 45 minutes depending on how tired he is. I'll usually put him down at 1 and will never let him sleep past 4.

The first few times he threw his lovey over the side of the crib, I would go in and get it...but I stopped once he started figuring out that was the way to get me back in his room. Now if it goes over, it stays there. He figured out pretty quickly that I wasn't coming back and stopped throwing it over the side.

Lots of luck...nap training is hard, but consistency is key!

RIght now I am nursing LO to sleep for his 2 naps. Sometimes this is super easy, and sometimes he wakes up as soon as I put him in the crib and I have to repeat the whole thing. No bueno. Plus, I'd like others to be able to put him down for naps, AND I'd like to wean off those two nursing sessons.

If you nap trained a toddler, what method did you use? He's 13.5 months old...we nap trained at 5 months, but the method I used (basically sit in a chair in his room and soothe from there) I feel like won't work now that he can stand and is so much more attached/aware.

Also, his favorite trick is to stand up, scream, and throw his lovey over the crib. Any ideas to stop that?
