@Jass: So before we started nap training she was on 3 long naps per day. Usually she'd get up at 6:30, nap 8:30-10:30, 1-2:30 or 3, and 5-6:30. So her awake times were 2-2.5 hours and naps were 1.5-2 hours. The first 1.5 weeks of nap training naps were mostly 30 minutes (she'd wake up after her first sleep cycle and cry to get up), although she'd randomly have some long 2+ hour ones when she was really tired. In the last week though she seems to be lengthening her naps a bit better. She still sometimes has a random 30 min nap but more often they are about 1-1.5 hours, so a little bit shorter but not too bad. Also we've found she goes down easier if we keep her up a little longer. Mostly we keep her up 2.5-3 hours now unless it is really super clear she's exhausted or she missed her last nap.

I think you know my story, but I'll comment anyways to update:

1. At what age do you nap train?
Started at 6.5 months

2. What method did you used?
Modified Ferber. Our rules were cry checks at 5, 10, 15 minutes (not increasing day after day). We also set a 30 min total cry limit and a 45 min total time in crib limit for naps. If a nap failed we gave up and tried again 30-60 min later. Except for Nap #3, if that nap failed I rocked her bc I didn't want to send her into bedtime overtired.

3. How long did it take to nap train?
Week 1 sucked hard. Day 1 was okay then days 2-4 got progressively worse and we almost gave up. Then it started to get a little better and a little better. At 2.5 weeks I'd say things are good. (She falls asleep super fast with no crying almost every time for nap #1 and 2 unless she's super worked up like if we have company. Nap 3 is still a crap shoot)

4. Do you nap train for all naps or can start with one like morning nap?
All naps. Except like I said, I do rock her for the 3rd nap if she times out because I don't like sending her into bed time too tired. Seems like nap 3 is still about 50/50 on her own v. rocked.

@ellewoods84: @Jass: I can't hold them for all naps, but they sure wish I could! I'm actually 30 minutes into a nap holding Alice now. Luckily DH is home now to take care of Blake! I'm just so tired of spending my whole life rocking and nursing and praying for naps in a dark room. It'd be nice to occasionally get something done while they nap!

1. At what age do you nap train?
We started at 4 months and then revamped at 6 months. Naps stuck, night time did not.

2. What method did you used?
We used ferber at 4 months and extinction at 6 months. we didn't need to retrain him for naps. His napping was ok but his night suffered a lot!

3. How long did it take to nap train?
Nap training, a day? Night training 3 days ( I know you didn't ask about night, but this was my experience with 2 methods).

4. Do you nap train for all naps or can start with one like morning nap?
We did all naps. I, personally, think it would be confusing to follow through with one nap and let the others be all willy nilly like. ;)

No advice either, but I think we are going to nap train over Christmas. Naps are a serious disaster over here (as I hold my baby for her nap, like I always do). Hopefully people have good advice!!
