I did CIO. I held my daughter until she was 12 months...oops. We had done CIO for nights at 6 months so her night sleep was decent. It sucked and took a good week or so for her to go down in her crib, and probably another month for her to actually lengthen her naps from like, 25 minutes to an hour. I do still nurse her until she's drowsy before putting her down, but I figure I'll work all that out later.

@regberadaisy: Yes...I was so sad when he gave his second nap up so early.

The key is consistency, and unfortunately, not when she's sick. I know it's so much easier said than done, but eventually, she'll start to get it. LO used to cry for 45 min + at the beginning...it widdled down to going straight down for naps for us which was heavenly!

how's her night sleep? once we trained for going to bed at night, naps got better (slowly). I did have let him cio for a couple of naps and it was rough, not gonna lie. But he was very easy to put down for naps for months after that.

Nowadays, I'm getting a lot of resistance for the afternoon nap and I'm having to cio again. it sucks again! I think our 2-1 transition will be a long one!

@2PeasinaPod: if you would've asked me with DD1 I would've said no but this time around yes. LOL

I have let her CIO a few times and what it results in is her crying longer than she actually naps for. And it doesn't really improve over the days/weeks. Right now because of her sickness crying to much ends up with her coughing and throwing up. So today after 15m when she kept escalating I came in and rescued her.

And oh wow one nap at 8months??

Are you willing to try CIO? We nap trained LO at 8 months with CIO and it was super tough. Some days he didn't nap, but after about a week, he started getting it. Finally after over a month and a half of staying consistent, he went down on his own. This was also the time we started transitioning from 2 naps to 1, and he gave me a much longer stretch in the afternoon.

I've been trying to nap train DD2 for about a month and half. She's been pretty sick the past week so I put it on hold. Now that she's feeling better I want to start back up.

She'll be 7m on the 28th and I really do not want to hold her for all naps till she's over 1, like her big sister.

Drowsy but awake might as well be unicorns in this household. I try to get her to nap when she shows sleey signs. Sometime she fights it and sometimes she falls right asleep. Getting her to sleep in the crib is just a insane battle.
I also think she's transitiining from 3 to 2 naps. Some days it's 2 with a 5pm cat nap, some days it's just one!

How did you nap train your baby to nap in the crib?
