@Dahlia: daycare did amazing things for our LOs sleeping. He was never a good napper and still isn't but he still gets plenty of sleep. I wouldn't worry too much. Hope everything goes smoothly! :goodluck:

I nursed to sleep probably until 9/10 months - he didn't take normal naps until 8 months though. He transitioned to no nursing without any problem though. Just did a little nap routine and he would go to sleep within 10-15 mins of fussing or talking to himself. I thought he would cry for sure but he didn't.

I had previously tried nap training around 6 months and it just didn't work and even if he fell asleep on his own still cat napped, so I kept nursing to sleep for naps b/c it was convenient. they naturally lengthened on their own around 8 mos.

I nap trained at 5-6 months. I went back to work at 7 months and DH was staying home with her so I wanted to stop BFing her to sleep. I just changed up the routine a bit so I wasn't nursing in her bedroom and that I wasn't nursing her until she fell asleep. Then I let her CIO in her crib. I did it for a few days and couldn't take the crying so I went back to nursing her to sleep and tried again in a couple weeks. The second attempt went much better and within a few days she could fall asleep well on her own. Good luck to you!

We did the Ferber method for naps around 5.5 months. It took a couple days to get it down right for naps and I'd give up if she cried for 30 mins. But she quickly got the hint and is a much better napped. Her naps stayed somewhat short for a while and j think that was more developmental. But she stopped fussing to go to sleep. She wears a sleep sack and we sing her a song before we put her down.

Daycare helped naps get better for us. LO only wanted to sleep with me and I tried to get him to nap elsewhere, but didn't work and he went to daycare. Since that can't happen at daycare that taught him to sleep on his own.

We were very similar - sTTN very young but naps were atrocious. She had to be fed, rocked, and put down ever so gently and would then only sleep 20-30 minutes.

So at 7 months we decided to sleep train to teach her to fall asleep on her own. I did a modified cry it out with check...2 minutes, 4 minutes, 6 minutes, etc. The first day it was probably an hour before she went to sleep. The second day 30 minutes. The third day she fell right asleep. And as a bonus, she started lengthening her naps!! It ended up being really great for us

I think it's time to nap train. Our 6 month old goes to sleep on her own at bedtime with little to no fuss. However, at nap times we have to rock or bounce her until she's totally asleep. Then she only sleeps 30 minutes and wakes up crying. I usually nurse her then and she'll fall back asleep on me for 30 minutes to an hour.

I don't mind letting her sleep on me but she starts daycare soon so that won't be an option. Plus, she's starting to fight naps and screams at us when we bounce her anyway! How did you nap train? Any suggestions for getting her to fall asleep on her own?
