@winniebee: Yeah, I've been rereading Weissbluth's book and it's very vague on what to do after a failed nap. Incidentally, each time we put LO down again was pretty much the next scheduled nap, and she cried an hour for each one. My poor tired baby. =(

Bedtime will be super early tonight.

If I recall correctly, Weissbluth says if they wake up before sleeping for an hour, leave them there to cry for as long as you can tolerate it (because often they'll fall asleep again for a sleep cycle). Also, I'm not totally sure, but I *think* he says to wait until the next scheduled nap time to try for a nap again (ie, instead of an hour, go 2 hours) But I've never done it!

@mamajaja: we did nap train but my lo never cried for the full hour. I think the most she cried during naps was 20 min.

@betsyboop: Did you nap train at the same time as well? If so, did you LO ever cry the full hour?

I'm no expert but I *think* that's what you're supposed to do. We (successfully!) sleep trained using weissbluth's method as well. I believe Weissbluth says the naps will fall into place after your LO has worked out the night sleep so maybe it will take a few days? Good luck, sleep training is tough but so worth it!

We started nap training with Weissbluth's Extinction method today. For LO's first nap she cried for an hour but started quietly whimpering near the end so we waited an additional 10 min and she fell asleep for about 15 min and then woke up =(

So we got her up, and then waited about an hour and just put her down again for her next nap. Am I doing this right?

This is what her schedule for today looks like so far:

7:34 am - woke up
9:25 am - in crib and cried for 72 (!!!) min
10:37 am - 10:54 am - asleep
12:20 pm - in crib and crying as I type

We survived sleep training last night (woke up 3 times and cried about an hour each!)

If she cries another hour for her second nap, am I supposed to do the same thing and wait another hour to attempt nap #3 and then an early bed time?

My heart is breaking, but I know this is for a greater good.

ETA: LO is 7.5 months
