We just transitioned to one nap as well. For about a week my g/g twins slept for 90 - 120 min, we're on the 3rd week of 1 naps and they now sleep for about 2. - 2.5 hrs. Yesterday was the first day they both slept 2 hrs 45 min. We're getting there :)

I think what changed for me, I wasn't giving them a lunch before they were going down. I was giving a snack before nap and a lunch/snack when they woke up. Now they get lunch before they go down and snack when they get up!!!

It has taken 2 months of back and forth, one horribly short nap for us to get to a semi decent one nap. We even went back to 2 for a bit. This week I seem to of hit the sweet spot of awake for 5 hours and can get a 2 hour nap. She took a 3 hour nap for MIL the other day so I am hoping she will stretch it it out a bit more.

@Silva: for us it took two weeks for it to lengthen naturally (to about 2 hours). he had a very early bedtime during the transition.

It took us a few weeks too. At first his one nap was the same as one of his two naps (90 min) but now he naps for close to 3 hours in one go.

We transitioned awhile ago, around 13 months, and her one nap has always been between 1.5-2.5 hours, generally 2. Prior to that, her two naps combined were around 3 hours or so, but she never takes a 3 hour nap now...

It took a few weeks.

My daycare tried to go to one nap and she became ridiculously overtired, so we went back to a short morning nap (max 30 minutes at 9 a.m.) plus the afternoon nap. Over time she dropped the morning nap. She sleeps 12-3 pretty reliably at daycare, but usually not as long at home (I'm happy if we can get 2 hours).

Honestly, my LO still hasn't lengthened her afternoon nap. We transitioned a couple of months ago, and she only naps for 1 hour 20-30 mins, which is the same length her afternoon nap has always been.

It took about 3-4 months for LO to lengthen his 1 nap from 1 hour20 minutes to ~2 hours. I think that is longer than it generally takes, but it is common for it to take some time for the nap to lengthen.

I think we are starting to transition to one nap. She's giving a lot of cues that she's ready. So today I pushed her to noon for one nap, but she only slept about 80 minutes, which is not enough if it's the only nap (for her or me!). That is how long she has been sleeping in the afternoon, in addition to 90 minutes in the morning.
Did it take a few days for them to start sleeping longer when you went to one nap (if you tried to transition cold turkey?). She did have poop in her diaper when I went in to get her, so I guess it could have been a fluke.
