Our experience was similar to what @BadgerMom: described. Some days he could manage just one nap but others he needed two until he was really ready to transition to one nap.

DD1 transitioned to 1 nap at 15 mo so you're probably right around there! The very beginning was tough; she couldn't stay awake past 11 , and then had to be put to bed by like 7 the latest b/c she was so tired. But slowly she was able to nap later and later and adjusted.

Sounds like she's getting ready to move to one nap but may not quite be there yet. At this stage we had to be pretty flexible and go with the flow. I would put her down when you get home from the gym and if she falls alseep, wake her up after 45 minutes or however long you think she can sleep without interfering with her afternoon nap. If she doesn't fall asleep for AM nap then move afternoon nap earlier right after lunch and call it a one nap day. Some days you'll have two naps, some days one, and eventually the one nap days will win out.

Help!! My almost 14-month-old daughter is giving us some trouble with naps. She has been pretty consistent for the last 4 to 5 months of taking a morning nap from about 9 AM till 10:30 AM and then taking another afternoon nap from 2 PM- 3:30 PM. However, we moved about a month ago and I have started to take her with me to the gym in the morning's. I usually return home from the gym closer to 930 and immediately lay her down. About 50% of the time she will fall asleep within about five minutes and the other 50% of the time she will either take forever to fall asleep or awake up within 30 to 45 minutes. I am a stay at home mom with a husband that travels so I don't have any other options for the gym.... Unless I don't go. If she does take a nap in the morning and it's at least an hour long she starts fighting her afternoon nap. I started pushing out her afternoon nap to 215/230, but for the last week she has been fighting that and I'm lucky if she falls asleep within 45 minutes of laying her down. Her bedtime is usually around 7---give or take a few minutes The dilemma I'm running into is twofold. First is, is she ready to transition to one nap? And if so how do I handle that? About a month ago we thought she was ready for that but she became a real bear come 11 AM and when we laid her down, she would be back up by 1230 and then wanted to nap again around four but her bedtime is closer to 7 PM. The second part of my dilemma is that starting next week I will be caring for a 10 1/2 month old as well. Her parents run a very loose schedule and I would like to try to have them nap at the same time. I will only have this other child from 8 AM until 1 PM. Long story short, should I continue to lay my daughter down until she consistently fights her morning nap for a couple of weeks and also lay other baby down in hopes that she will sleep train herself? Sorry if this was long-winded and confusing but I would love some insight on how to best handle this! I really don't think that my daughter is quite ready to give up that morning nap but I would like to find some kind of healthy balance. Thanks!

Ps-- if my daughter continues to take a morning nap but I push it out later in the morning, the other dilemma I run into is her afternoon nap running past 415 in which I need to get the older two off the bus.
