We started one nap fairly early, maybe around 10 months? DS is almost 14 months now, and STTN 12-13 hrs, and has a 2 hr nap. The nap generally starts around 10:30-11 on the weekend, but daycare likes for them all to sleep at 12:30. We get him up at 6:30 during the week, and he usually goes to bed at 6:30 in the evenings. Even at 2 naps he went to sleep around 6. We just had to watch for his cues to determine the best time for him to sleep. Once we got night time sleep down, naps followed quickly. Maybe she needs to go to bed a little earlier? Then try 1 nap?

@mrswin: Oh no :( absolutely if she is cranky I'd try to definitely make them longer or stick with two!

@MrsSRS: OMG I want to cry :crying: every nap is such a battle. I think we are going to go back to one nap this week and see if she will be able to lengthen it to something reasonable....

@FaithFertility: Soooo cranky, she pretty much whines and cries all afternoon/evening, doesn't want to be put down. When she was on 2 naps she was getting between 2.5 and 3 hrs of naps total. If she was happy I wouldn't mind but she is clearly overtired and grumpy which is no fun for anyone.

@mrswin: at 13 months DD was 80% on 1 nap that lasts 1.5 hrs at the most
Is she tired, cranky?!
My DD is definitely low sleep needs so I let it go!
She is happy as can be so what can I do..Even now at 17 months she naps 12/12:30-1:00/1:30 usually 1.5
Sleeps 8-6/6:30 over night
So 10/10.5 hrs at night and 1/1.5 during the day!
I let go of the thought of 2-3 hr naps months ago :silly:

We just switched DD at 11 months to one nap and it is slowly getting better. When DS switched (well past 18 months!) it took quite a while for that one nap to lengthen to a nice 2-3 hour snooze. So she may need one nap and a few weeks to sort it out 😣

My 13 month old DD is making us crazy lately with all her nap shenanigans. At the beginning of April she started really fighting going down for both of her naps. We figured it was related to learning to walk. She woke up at 6:40 this morning and finally fell asleep for her first nap at 10:15, after multiple Ferber checks. I put her down for her second nap at 2:40 (3.5 hrs wake time). She is currently rolling around in her crib chattering and occasionally whining.

We tried taking her down to one nap for a week but that didn't seem to be working either. She would wake up 1 hour into the nap and need help falling back asleep. She would then sleep another 35-45 minutes before waking up and refusing to sleep any more.

She has always been on the low end of the average for sleep. Overnight she does 10.5 or 11 hrs MAX and only getting 1.5 or 2 hours of sleep is only 12 to 13 hours in a day total.

Suggestions, comments, commiseration is all welcome!
