Try for stroller naps where you can, but I would just go with the flow. When you get back home she will settle back into her routine eventually.

At that age I would try and plan for some quiet time around the time she would usually nap, or a bit later and talk a walk (either stroller or ergo) and hope she falls asleep! My LO has never been great at napping on the go either but she will just crash out at some point if she needs the nap!

I haven't found travel to affect naps too much.
Cars, strollers, carriers all work, but they also work at home. My oldest is OK napping on a sofa.

When we did a similar trip at that age, I used the Ergo for her naps. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. We were also playing with time zone changes so it made sticking to her schedule impossible anyway.

@PurplePeony: We're going to do a little of that, but unfortunately we're not staying with immediate family (my mom lives on a boat and my brother has a shared bachelor pad) so we don't really want to impose more than we already are! We will try though.

I agree with @Anagram. Also, can people come to see you rather than you running all around to see them? The first time I took DD to my hometown, my parents had a BBQ so all the relatives and friends who wanted to meet her could come at once. She took a nap in the middle of it, but it worked out really well.

Well, I have never had the best sleeper, so take all this with a grain of salt. But I am usually slightly more flexible when traveling and it's been fine (my LOs night sleep is *always* worse when we are in a new place, no matter how good or bad her naps are).

Meaning, if she takes at least one nap at home (or your parents home) per day, then that's good. If you are just seeing friends most of the time, schedule those meetups around her naps.

Even now, my 22 month old who takes every single nap in her crib at home, will sleep in a stroller when we are traveling if/when she gets tired enough. It's not ideal, but it works for a day or two.

We're going on our first trip with LO (8 mo) next week and I am over thinking everything. She currently is a fabulous napper, 2 a day for a total of 3hrs nap sleep usually. And has just in the past week gotten great with her night sleep with only one MOTN wake up, which is glorious. Of course we have 3 trips (with at least 3 hr time zone change) in the next 3 mo so everything will go to crap...

Anyhow, this trip next week is to my hometown and we have events (DH's PhD graduation) and a huge list of people to see and everyone wants to meet LO. How will I manage to keep her nap schedule, or how will I help her be flexible, while we do all this? We'll be staying with friends/family too, so it's not like we'll have a hotel room we can go sequester in. LO will only nap on the go (car, carrier) if on the brink of exhaustion now, because she loves the world so much, so I doubt we could squeeze in a car nap between events.

Appreciate all advice!
