@youboots I really like Puckett's restaurant in downtown Nashville - it's like bbq/meat and 3 type of place, not too expensive. I would definitely check out the Parthenon while you are there, it is worth a stop!

Bump... we leave in 72 hours.

We are headed to Nashville Wednesday then driving to Louisville Sunday and head home Thursday. Any recommendations? What about a fun place to visit in between for food? Kid free trip 🙌

So far we have tickets the the Opry 2 nights, dinner at Kane Prime for our Anniversary and are doing a bar crawl tour in Nashville. In Louisville we have another couple joining us. We are doing a food and booze tour, the bourbon trail, have reservations at an escape room and a fancy dinner at a steakhouse with Ruby in the name.

@HeartAbandoned: awesome. I bookmarked all those spots on Yelp. We will be there in early October- we may catch a game at Vanderbilt. We will be there for the Oprys 50 anniversary and got tickets 2 nights in a row.@Truth Bombs: we had enough points to stay at the Hilton for free. I'm with you I love the Omni chain but nothing beats free.

@youboots: did you book the Opry hotel? I always suggest to people that they just do a day trip to see the hotel and not actually stay there. It's not at all convenient to the night life downtown or any of the best restaurants in the city. If you can change, I highly recommend the Omni in downtown.

@youboots: I don't know if you're coffee drinkers, but the coffee scene in Nashville is amazing. Barista Parlor (there are several locations) serves an amazing breakfast, too. Crema roasts their own beans, so you can even take some home to brew.

I also love The Pharmacy for killer burgers and great atmosphere. 5 Daughters donuts are expensive but incredible. Biscuit Love is magical, too. 12 South is a fun area of town - any of the restaurants around there are awesome.

The weather in TN in October is absolutely beautiful. The trees will be gorgeous changing colors and the weather should be cool at night and comfortable during the day, mid 70s, depending on if you're here in early or late October. Definitely check out who is playing at the Ryman and at other venues around town; there is always good music.

@youboots: It can vary. Last year it was beautiful in early October, but the weekend that A was born was super cool and windy (the day I went into labor was amazing though). There are a couple of races in early October so depending on the weekend it might be hard to get out of downtown. 21c is cool (Proof is AMAZING), then there is the Brown Hotel (home of the Hot Brown), the Galt House, and a few other fancy places to stay. Really, downtown nightlife is limited to 4th St. Live, but there are some cool places in the Highlands and it has a very hipster vibe (but amazing food).

ETA: NuLu is very up and coming, I recommend Hi-Five donuts if you like donuts (I like the Unicorn donut), I have friends who like Decca, Feast is very good, and then there's Toast on Market for breakfast/brunch. I also like Wild Eggs (there is one downtown) but I've never been to their sister restaurant Wild Ritas (Tequila and margarita bar/restaurant).

@avivoca: awesome thanks. That's what I was thinking. We have a friend who works in booze who offered to get us distillery tours. I don't really drink bourbon so I may just drive.

What's the weather like early October

@youboots: Don't stay in Frankfort. It's lame. Stay in Louisville, the nightlife is better and there is a lot more to do. PM me if you want some recommendations. We have Uber and City Scoot if you would like to both drink, plus lots of cab companies.

I love Nashville. My sister lived there for a few years and I just always had the best time visiting her!

We always ate at Jacks BBQ and Loveless Cafe (outside Nashville). At night we would barhop down broadway...and ALWAYS got a random concert from someone famous!

Tootsies is a must...just for the experience!

610 Magnolia in Louisville and Harrison Smith House in Bardstown are amazing restaurants.
I love the tours at Maker's Mark, Buffalo Trace, and Jim Beam. The 21C hotel in Louisville is fantastic and their restaurant and bar are solid too. If you are a baseball fan the Louisville Slugger museum is fun and pretty quick.

ETA: many of the distilleries are quite a distance apart, so trying to do more than one or two tours in a day is hard, but lots of places offer tours without tastings.

DH and I are headed back to Nashville and to Kentucky for the first time to go bourbon tasting. We are planning on staying at the Opry. We are thinking of staying in Frankfort JY but open to ideas. We may catch a Titans game. We are open to anything and everything.
