Sprite and ginger ale didn't do it for me, but sipping on Dr. Pepper (from a can/bottle, not a fountain) helped a lot--the bubbles were so refreshing. I always had dry Cheerios around during first tri, and Unisom + B6 took the edge off for a few weeks (then I switched to Zofran).

34+week preggo here reporting in.....
It gets better :)
My nausea passed at 11 weeks to the day. I literally woke up better that morning. I can eat just about what I want (no chicken with bones in it though). All those gross smells don't really bother me too much any more.

I just had DH do anything food related for the first 11 weeks. Now it's normal again.
You will soon have other fun side effects to look forward to though... :P

Ugh, it is the worst! I found that eating before I got out of bed helped me, and also taking b6. I would take 25mg when I woke up, and 25mg when I went to bed, plus my prenatal had a small amount in it and I took that at lunch. I would clear it with your dr first but it's a pretty common recommendation and is a safe supplement under 100mg a day.

Also, I was only sick for about 3 weeks! I remember being so depressed and just crying after work thinking I was going to feel sick until 12 weeks, but I was really only sick from weeks 6-9. This is not the case for everyone but you might get lucky!

Eek..sorry to hear the nausea has started :(

I found saltines to be incredibly helpful. I also found massive relief in slicing up a piece of fresh ginger, putting it in the bottom of a covered mug and filling it with hot water. I would sip on that all day long and (a) it helped tremendously with the nausea, and (b) my colleagues were none the wiser, as I kept the lid on my mug so it just looked like I was drinking tea or coffee.

Good luck - hopefully your bout with nausea will be short lived :)

ginger ale and saltines!

I remember before I was pregnant thinking that the symptoms couldn't be *that* bad and that the joy and excitement would out-weigh them for me....ha! The fatigue was my worst symptom, and this coupled with the other big changes in my body had me feeling pretty frustrated. I remember thinking over and over again "I don't feel like myself!" and "this just isn't my body anymore!"

I read a great quote in an article- I don't have it with me so I can't give it to you exactly, but it basically said: "Pregnancy is not just a transition- it is a change from a known self in a known world to an unknown self in an unknown world."

welcome to the unknown!

I've had very little morning sickness, but I have found that if I don't have at least a little snack in my stomach at all times, I just feel *wrong.* I've only puked once, yay, and I think it's starting to abate, but snacks are definitely my friend!

I also kept a bag of dry cheerios in my bag at all times. Whenever nausea hit I'd eat a mouthful and it would help a LOT. For me, the trick was to never let my stomach get empty.

Feel better soon! I found that eating a handful of honey nut cheerios in the middle of the night when I got up to pee and then again before I even got out of bed helped keep the acidity in my stomach to a minimum. I hope you find something that works for you! I also drank a lot of ginger ale. Not sure if it helped or if i just *thought* it did. But water wasn't my fave

Aw it's so awful isn't it? Like pp have said, food is often key I kept crackers by my bed and grazed every time I woke up. Also don't be afraid to ask your doctor for meds if it's really bad. I had s horrible time with it bit shudder to think how much worse it would have been without my amazing meds.

aw I'm sorry! Yes, its bad.. but that means your babe is developing and growing so just keep that in mind ( I know it's hard ).

Drink ginger ale, and figure out what you can stomach without feeling like you have to vomit. Usually its the dry stuff (like crackers, pretzels, etc.) Coffee may be the culprit - try and cut that out and see if it helps?

Cut to now - I'm sitting at my desk, opposite my boss, and I swear I'm going to vomit. I've already gone to the bathroom several times and I can't keep disappearing. I'm trying to sip water and stay calm but I may just barf in the bin.

Why did nobody warn me about this?! Oh wait, you did - and I said "Bring it on!!"
