@Sams Mom: I know I prefer to use an infant seat to start but since you said the new baby wouldn't be in your husband's car a lot, I would consider installing the 4ever for the baby in there. The 4ever really reliably fits newborns and it would be one less base to buy. The extend2fit doesn't always fit newborns but will be a great seat whenever you are done with the infant seat.

The nautilus has a 10 year expiration.

@catgirl: I know I can definitely recycle the Extend2Fit and 4Ever with the new baby. I just wasn't sure when we would transition from the bucket. The Nautilus is fairly new, but I haven't checked the expiration to see if it will last until the new baby needs a harnessed seat like that.

At least my mom and dad asked if there is anything they can buy now ahead of baby coming. Maybe a new car seat will make the list.

@Sams Mom: I totally know the feeling! My DD is super tall and about to outgrow her 4evers. We will be buying either the britax pioneer or frontier. They really are the best options for tall kids, especially tall torsos. The harness height is 20.5 inches.

I know Albee baby has some decent sales going on right now. In fact I think the Chico keyfit base has a 20% off code. And a few colors of the britax seats were on saw last I checked.

Another thing to consider. The 4ever fits infants very well, could you use that for the new baby in the babysitter's car? Or your husbands? And not purchase another base.

@catgirl: 😭😭😭

I know this is for his safety, and it needs to fit him... But replacing 2-3 seats for him plus a baby on the way hurts the bank account a little.

I want him harnessed for another couple years at the bare minimum.

@Sams Mom: definitely a tall torso for his height. At 18 inches he has outgrown the extend2fit and 4ever in harness mode. And is only .25 inches away from outgrowing the nautilus.

I would definitely consider one of the britax combination seats with that torso height.

@catgirl: I measured his sitting height and he's just at 18" maybe 18 1/8" , I also hadn't measured his height in a few months and he's over 43" but not quite 44" (being squirmy).

@Sams Mom: the nautilus 80 has a higher standing height limit but the harness height is the same.

I would say have your husband try to do baseless if he will have the baby the least. They use the infant seat for such a short time.

@catgirl: I thought about having my husband do a baseless install since he would have it the least. I want to make it as easy as possible on her to put the baby in the car since she has them 5 days a week. They probably won't go many places to start, but she'll probably drive them the most after me.

I know it's for the safety of my baby, but that $85 ish a base is painful when I'm having to replace a lot of gear since the hands me downs I got with my son were 4 years old 4 years ago.

@Sams Mom: I would definitely check to see if the extend2fit has one more click up. Sometimes when it is installed it can be hard to get the last click. There should be 10 headrest positions, so you could start at the bottom and count the clicks up. If he really is outgrowing i would probably not get another nautilus just because it wouldn't give him much more time.

I still would check his torso height. Have him sit criss cross on the floor against a wall and measure from the floor to the top of his shoulders.

I don't know how often the baby will be with the babysitter but you could consider having her do a baseless install of the infant seat. Probably a pain if she will have baby a lot, but if it's just occasionally it could work.

@catgirl: I don't mess with it often since it's in the baby sitters truck, but I moved the headrest up today and I think it's all the way up. I might just have to get in her truck this evening and check it all over.

I was shocked that it was all the way up since the Nautilus and forever seem to have room to grow still. I'm hoping I can hold off on seats for a minute anyways because I need to buy an additional Chicco base for her truck for the new baby.

@Sams Mom: The harness height for the extend2fit is about 17.5 inches. The nautilus harness height is about 18.25. The myfit harness height is about 19.5. Average torso growth is about on inch a year - so if he is truly maxing out the extend2fit he would only have a little less than year or so in the nautilus versus two years or so in the myfit. And the 4ever harness height is about 18 inches.

That said I'm a little surprised at his stats that he is outgrowing the harness of the extend2fit. My DD is about 46 inches and has a seated torso height of 17.25-17.5. I would measure his seated torso height first to get a better idea.

The chicco is much narrower and will last longer than the nautilus. But they are both good seats. You could also look at the Britax pioneer.

I need a new seat for the babysitter's truck. She has a Graco Extend2Fit and it seems like he's about to max out the harness height, maybe. None the less the seat can be passed on to the new baby.

I have a 4Ever All in 1, and my husband has a Nautilus 65 in his truck. I like Graco, but I used Chicco for our bucket seat and liked it too. Is one better than the other? I'm also considering the Nautilus snuglock instead of the regular one, just to see how the install goes.

My son is 3y3m, 42" tall and 42 lbs. He's lanky, and tall all over, not just long legged or long in the torso.
