Oh no, glad he is okay! Same thing happened to me too not too long ago! I was sitting with my arms hovering over her basically the whole time then tuned my body around to grab the towel behind me when I heard the splash/ thud and my heat jumped right out of my chest! I have never moved so fast in my life.

Oh no! Ugh. It always sucks when they get hurt. I'm glad he was ok though.

I completely agree with @babyjmama: laundry basket in the tub is pretty awesome. Especially since he refuses to actually *sit* in the tub.

@FutureMrsMcK: I didn't read the other posts. I just wanted to tell you that I had a mom fail today too and I'm still shaken up. DD was walking around the 1 ft deep baby pool and I was watching her for all but a split second while I grabbed her towel. I turned back to see she was face down in the water on all 4s and not getting back up. I pulled her up and she was fine, minus the initial shock. I'm totally freaked our and hating myself for letting her get to that point. Bottom line is that things happen, but it's easy to blame ourselves. Your Lo is ok - try to get some sleep. :-)

Oh poor baby! (And poor you too!) DD has fallen and cut her lip on her teeth more than once, but it has only happened at daycare when I wasn't there to witness it. I'm kind of glad it happened on someone else's watch, b/c I would be totally freaking out.

Oh my gah! I'm SO glad he's okay. Hy heart sank when I read what happened if that tells you where I'm at. I try not to freak out where J can see me but my head is a constant slide show of what COULD happen (walking to the car, what if I dropped him and he hit the concrete? Etc etc etc for EVERY scenario - I live in fear of something happening to him). Basically I'm zero help here.

As a side note, to help in the bath get a laundry basket and plop him in there. Gives him something to hold on to, a safer bottom and a safe amount of water. I'll try to get the IG pic of J in his and tag you! It's helped us a ton with bath time.

@mrbee: I literally think this every time I set LO down in his crib at night!

If they are alive and the day is at a close, I consider that one more notch on my belt.

Glad it wasn't a tooth!

Oh man! That would be totally freaky! I would have been terrified too! Thank goodness he's ok! I think it's just important to remember that kids do get hurt and we just have to be there to make them feel better afterwards.

EEK! Glad he's okay!

I'm with @Mr. Bee! As long as the kids are alive I'm generally fine! G was climbing & jumping off anything he could by 14 months so I got used to it pretty quick.. I had to or I might of had an aneurysm! lol

@FutureMrsMcK: Oh no!! So glad he's ok!

I like to set the bar really low, just to keep my stress down... my low bar measure of success is whether or not I kept the kids alive. If I end the day with the kids alive and with heal-able injuries, I feel ok about it!

Sometimes they get a little hurt, but I think that's maybe even good for them in the long run... as long as they're alive and heal-able, that's all that matters!

Oh no :( I still have no advice on this, LO has fallen face first a few times already (from the sitting position), and my heart drops every time. It's so scary...

That's so scary. I agree I think I'm. Ok with keeping it together for her sake but I've never had my heart sink so fast when she gets hurt.

oh no!! glad he's okay. :(
my DD is 2 and I have a difficult time keeping my cool. DH says she's a drama queen and "oh noooooes!!" everything because of me. She had a stomach bug and was throwing up out of her nose and mouth and I was a mess. Thank God my mom was here.

I have no advice. I'm screwed and need to get it together before my kids get older. I baby'd my daughter and I want to baby and protect my son too, but I know I need to take it down a few notches..

E likes to stand up in the bathtub. We have a non-slip mat thing down in there (the alligator one), but he stepped off of it and slipped before I could grab him. Face down into the water. He was under for a few seconds (literally like 2 seconds) before I fished him out. Naturally he was screaming, so I picked him up, thinking he was just shocked.

And then I noticed blood on his arm and my heart stopped. I thought he'd hit his head on something, then realized it was coming from his mouth and thought he'd knocked out a tooth. Thankfully it just looks like he bit his tongue when he went down.

He nursed and was happy the last 15 minutes before bed. And pooped on the floor, but that's a whole other post.

My heart is still pounding. I don't know how to handle him getting hurt. I was outwardly very calm and soothing to him while I figured out what was going on, but inside I was terrified.

How do you balance acceptance that your LO will get hurt with a burning need to protect them from everything?
