We just bought a Hyundai Santa Fe this fall, partly because of the spacious storage area. The Rogue missed out by a narrow margin. We the single bench seat version, but there is a third row option, although if you regularly use that, it would cut into your storage.

@brady80: We have two boys, and I bought a Toyota Highlander last year and love it! I previously had a Honda Pilot and while I really liked it, I just like the Highlander more. Prior to buying we tested the Nissan Pathfinder, Infiniti QX60, and another Pilot.

I would give the Highlander the edge because of:
* The second row that converts from a row that seats three, to two captain chairs.
* Feels roomier than the Pilot (especially in the front seat area).
* The rear glass window that opens independently of the hatch.
* The third row that is easier to access, and has more leg room than the Pilot.
* The overall design and exterior.

@Tanjowen: we love our Sorrento! who would think that Kia is so customer friendly and adds such nice perks to their vehicles .. I usually get 22mpg, part town and part highway

Have you looked at the honda pilot? Those are the 3 vehicles we looked at and preferred the pilot. I've had it a year and still love it.

I get normally 22mpg around town and 25/26 mpg on the highway, I'm more than satisfied.

My husband thought the pilot was way roomier than the pathfinder, he had trouble even fitting in the third row of it.

I keep eyeing the Kia Sorento with the 3rd row option as my next car. I have only heard good things in term of value, size and comfort.

I am in LOVE with our Nissan Pathfinder that we bought last year.

So much room , the third row is easily accessible even with car seats installed, and it came with so many "extras" that would have cost a lot more had we got our other option, the highlander. No regrets, Id buy it again in a heartbeat!

We also have a older model CRV that dh drives to work but once the stroller is in there there isn't a lot of room for anything else. So we hardly ever use it with DD.

You should look into the Honda CRV and it's bigger cousin, the Pilot, too. I've had 2 CRVs now. I'm happy with it.

I test drove a Highlander a couple months ago when we bought my 2nd CRV. I liked it too, just too big for me personally. It was nice though.

My next car (hopefully the first of the year) will be the Toyota Highlander. I love the interior of it and the new body style. I have a friend who just bought a new Pathfinder and she has been happy with hers. I've been in it a few times and it's pretty nice...plus the gas mileage is great too!

My mom has the hybrid Toyota Highlander and has been very happy with it. It is 7 yrs old and needed no major maintenance. We haven't tried carseats in it, but there is plenty of passenger room in the back. Lots of trunk space.

I have the Ford Escape (hybrid) and have been very happy with it as well. Plenty of room to have a car seat behind the driver and the seat all the way back. My stroller fits in long ways but only laying down flat, so I have about half the trunk space free. We will probably need a larger car when we have a second LO, but only because we do a lot of weekend trips and bring the dog with us. (or we might just get a roof rack.) Ours is 5 yrs old and we have not had any major maintenance issues (knock on wood) and just a few small items that needed to be fixed. Decent gas mileage for a SUV (26 mpg) and plenty of power.

I have a nissan rogue and have loved it, but it's on the small side. I have one LO but we plan to have another (hopefully soon). The rogue's trunk space is pretty small. If I have our stroller, I can barely fit anything else. My husband has a jeep and I don't love it. I'm thinking of the new nissan pathfinder or toyota highlander. Open to other suggestions, but I'm not interested in a luxury car- I had an audi and volvo and hated how much they cost to repair.
