I had to use my call a friend for advice about whether "wear and tear" style jeans are *actually* stylish. It appears that they are. Went to the gap and the ones I tried just weren't fitting me comfortably, so no go there. My favourite jeans are their dark wash skinny jeans but I'm pretty sure I've always had to order them online. I'd take a quick run through BR being prepared to find nothing, and then try Gap, and then Aritzia as a last resort (but I should say that I find Aritzia a bit intimidating).
