Not sure if you've made a decision yet, but it sort of sounds like maybe you should wait if you're not totally sure about it. It totally depends on how you feel, but I wouldn't like to feel rushed into making a decision like that. If you feel ready, go for it! If you feel like you want more time, wait. Good luck!

If you weren't monitored I wouldn't do it. The risk for multiples increases with any kind of medication and you have no idea how many follicles you have.

@CatchAFallingStar: Those are two pieces of information that are good to know before doing an IUI. If your lining is thin (a possibility after multiple rounds of Clomid) then even an IUI can't help with that. If there are more than 3 mature follicles, my RE cancels due to risk of multiples.

I'm not trying to be a debbie downer, and I realize I'm the odd one out in saying I wouldn't do it. An IUI is an easy procedure, but it still shouldn't be rushed into. If you're feeling unsure, I would wait.

By the way, my husband was not comfortable with doing an IUI at first. It took a few months for him to be ready, but it really made me feel like we were operating as a team when he did.

Totally agree with the IUI + BD. And if it helps any, if I get my BFP this month, our dog watched the erm... conception. At the end of the day, a baby conceived through IUI was definitely wanted!

What had monitoring showed this cycle? Follicles, lining thickness, etc.?

I would suggest doing the IUI and getting busy, and then you'll never know which one worked. As long as your husband is OK with that scenario, that's what I would do.

I agree with @swedishfish and @littlek! Then you'll never know how you got pregnant and it will be a great mystery! (Of course I think the most important thing is to bring your husband around to this point of view, otherwise I'd probably hold off.)

It stinks when our cycles don't follow the schedule we think they will. It's like finding out suddenly there are 8 days in a week so an extra day before the weekend. How old are you and how many cycles trying?

My RE said our chances for a medicated cycle with timed intercourse was 8% and with medication and IUI it was 15%, so that's a significant increase. However, if your DH isn't fully on board I'd say skip it and talk it through between the two of you for the next cycle. The good thing about Femara is that you can be on it for more cycles than Clomid because there isn't the same risk of thinning your lining.

Has your husband had an SA yet? If his numbers are good, then there probably isn't a reason for an IUI. If his numbers are questionable, then definitely go for it.

Go for it! I think you will feel way worse if you miss the chance than if you don't. Even if naturally would work I say why not increase your odds of you can. Especially of you've already started the process.

OK. Ladies. I need you!

I have the option of trying IUI this month and just had my LH surge, so it would be TOMORROW.

I was on Femara days 3-7 this month, so I almost feel like it would be a waste if I didn't do the IUI.

So, here are the pros and cons:

Pros
-Not wasting Femara round
-Doctor is billing as an office visit (so less than $250)
-ups our chances a little

Cons
-DH wants to wait and keep trying naturally for a while
-the chances aren't THAT great with IUI, so maybe it's a waste of time, hopes and money
-would rather get pregnant "making love" than via a catheter
-I feel rushed, now that my LH surge came sooner than expected

HELP!!
