You can make any socks have grippy bottoms if you have a hot glue gun.

We do tights and regular socks on top. Snow pants or a snowsuit would be nice. The regular socks are usually enough indoors... it's really hard to find slippers that stay on well for a toddler.

We had some REI-brand wool socks (basically smart wool knockoffs) that had a bit of text on the bottom (brand and size) to make them grippy. They were from a couple years ago though so not sure if they still make them!

We're in NYC and walk a ton in the snow. I've never worried about wool socks for me or DS. Just regular cotton are fine with warm boots.

Also, snow pants maybe? I got a pair at Old Navy so he doesn't have to wear a full on snow suit/bib. And they were cheap. Win-win.
Also ON has fleece that i got to layer under his coat if it's super cold.

I say just regular socks. I live in WI and have never given a thought to warmer socks under boots. He's never complained of cold feet and he'll play outside for over an hour.

I wouldn't bother with wool socks. They usually don't want to play long enough in the snow for that to matter. I'd just use regular cotton socks.

@LemonJack: we have slippers. But we need socks that she can be indoors in and then transition to outdoors without having to take off or put on extra items. DD hates getting dresses and undressed so they less I have to take off/put on the better. OYE. what headache.

@Silva: I've never heard of the fleece ones for little kids. Those sound super cozy!

We don't buy wool socks, just regular cotton ones. DD has a couple pairs of slippers to wear when it's cold, but she usually prefers to just run around in just the socks. I would just buy a cheap pair of slippers as it seems a lot of kids run hot.

we do wool socks and slippers. llbean makes some fleece ones with leather soles that aren't too expensive.

I need help from experienced cold weather mom. I'm in southern California so I'm totally clueless.

We're going on a ski trip in January and this will be DD's first time in the snow. She'll be two. I got her some snow boots and I've been searching for toddler size wool socks but I'm not finding much. The ones I'm finding don't have silicone grips on the bottom and the cabin we're staying in is all hardwood flooring. Am I looking in the wrong place? What does everyone suggest for warm socks that won't have her slipping and falling on the hardwood?
