I would have the SA done first and if that looks good go with Clomid again since it was successful before.

I would do the SA first. If the results come back good, I think giving Clomid another go is a good idea since you have had success with it in the past (Getting KU in 3 cycles is pretty good). While Clomid does suck, you should try and avoid having to do more intense fertility treatments if you can because they can be even more taxing on your life and finances.

Assuming you are in the US I would be very very surprised if midwife care was covered but OBGYN care was not covered.

Personally, I would try the clomid again. My analysis would be that clomid helps you to ovulate regularly and therefore get you on a level playing field with someone with no fertility issues. For a couple with no fertility issues it isn't at all unusual for it to take three months to get pregnant, so to me, the clomid was totally successful for you. That being said, if the side effects were just too much, then I would definitely talk to a provider about different options, and I would suggest working with an OBGYN/RE who would have more experience with these specific concerns than a midwife.

I hated Clomid too (made me a weeping mess at times!) but it sounds like since you had success with it before, you may have success again! Can you give it a month or two before pursuing something else? Also, I've heard femara has less side effects as mentioned above. Maybe try that one? And I also agree to have monitoring, too, unless you are ok with possible multiples!

Could you do a phone consult with an OBGYN? Just to find out what your options might be, before you explore further coverage? I don't know anything about your insurance, but could it be possible that if you have a formal diagnosis, certain things could be covered?

I wouldn't take Clomid without my husband having a semen analysis done first. Good luck!

Are the midwives willing to try femara? It tends to have less side effects for some especially if you had side effects on clomid. Also, a SA may not be needed right away since you don't have a clear sperm+egg problem. I much prefer some type of monitoring with clomid and such, but if a RE/Ob-GYN might not be covered then go with the midwife.

I don't know anything about this but I wanted to wish you luck! You might like the blog Baby Borneo or bust as well. She conceived two daughters on Clomid.

Hive, I need advice.

I conceived my daughter on my third round of 100mg of clomid. A previous round of 50mg didn't cause me to ovulate. I was not monitored by US while on clomid, just progesterone testing on CD21. I've decided to start treatment again this summer to try and conceive another. We've been trying, but aside from one chemical pregnancy, no luck. I've just stopped nursing her, and my cycles have always been very irregular. Fertility problems run in my family.

I'm hoping for is a little advice. My midwives are willing to cycle me on clomid on my previously successful protocol. I'm not sure that's the best choice. It took three tries to get pregnant the last time. Not a ton, but not the immediate success many have.

Should I just rerun this protocol? Should I seek out an OBGYN who could consider a different protocol? My husband has already agreed to a sperm analysis, which might change the plan entirely. I'm just not sure if I should give the clomid another few tries, or immediately seek something a little bit more serious. I really hated the way clomid made me feel, so that's a consideration. We also wanted our children to be 2 years apart, and that obviously isn't happening.

Also a consideration is that my midwife care would be covered by insurance, but an OBGYN might not be.
