Agree about CDs with kids singing. I keep a bag full of random toys I can pass back but I try to use them sparingly now that L is getting old enough to pay attention to stuff outside of the window (current favs: big trucks, cranes, bridges). Finger puppets, baby dolls, stickers, annoying talking toys (fisher price remote, leap frog phone). She is usually just happy to look out the window or at the mirror at herself and listen to music on car trips, though. Snacks help too! So I get a big bag full and I make her remove the plastic that holds the plastic egg sealed, then she has fun taking everything out. It takes a while to get the plastic off and sometimes I'll get it started by making a teeny tiny tear in it, but I let her work on it cause that takes a few minutes plus the few minutes to remove everything, admire the stickers and little toys. And she'll play with one for a LONG time putting it back in, closing the egg and opening it back up. I also have a caddy that hooks to her car seat that holds books and other toys.
