Ugh, we were dealing with this recently, I swear it was a blowout a day for a while. Also using Pampers, and it was coming out the leg and up the back. Here's what we did:

-- Moved up a size, from two to three
-- Switched to using Huggies and Target brand instead of Pampers.
-- Like @catgirl said, I check every time to make sure the ruffles are pulled out. I also make sure the back of the diaper is as high as possible.
-- Make sure they're tight enough, like the tabs at least are touching each other on the front.

We haven't had a blowout in almost a week now, yay! (ETA: I'm sure he'll have one at daycare today now that I said that :-P )

When DD was really little she would have lots of blow outs when DH changed her diaper. After watching him do it I realized he wasn't pulling the leg ruffles out! That was the game changer.

That sounds like a lot of blow-outs to me. Where are they leaking from - the back/top or the legs? May sound dumb, but are they on tight enough? Do you pull the little ruffles on the leg out (so they aren't tucked in)?

I know some poop blowouts are inevitable, but how often is normal? DS is 10 weeks old, around 13 lbs and 23 inches. We were using Pampers swaddlers and had lots of poop blowouts in size 1, so I sized up to size 2, which seems like the right size for him. The blowouts have been even worse. Like three of them within 24 hours. I then tried Honest which seemed ok until then we had another two blowouts in a single day (one up the back, one out the leg). I tried Huggies last night and they have a horrible urine smell -- I walked into DS's room this morning and literally gagged. So I went back to pampers and within an hour he pooped while sitting in my lap and it was all over my leg.

So... I'm getting frustrated. Any other brands I should try? Should I give Huggies another shot even though the smell nauseates me? Is my kid just a violent pooper?!
