We had a similar issue with DD when using Huggies diapers and wipes. We switched back to pampers and had no problem. I've also heard that the swaddlers/cruisers that have the driweave may cause a reaction whereas the baby dry don't have it and don't cause the reaction.

@mrskc: @Mrsbells: @Smurfette: I do use Triple Paste when he first had a diaper rash, and it definitely helped, but now the redness is all over (even above his penis, right up to the diaper line) and it's DRY and even peeling a little, so... not sure that's helping?

I would just buy a smaller pack at Target and see how it works. If you get like 25, that would be like 3 days, so it should give you an idea if it is working or not. Poor guy!

R has a major rash right now, looks awful. I started using Triple Paste and I think it is helping.

@Adira: Do you use any rash cream? ALso make sure this skin is 100% dry before putting the diaper on. this means letting him "chill out" on the diaper changing table for an addition 2-3 minutes to air dry. This made all the difference for my daughter

Triple paste was the only thing that kept my son's diaper rash at bay. When he was younger, like 2 months - 6 months, we had to put it on at every diaper change. If we missed it one time, back the redness would come. Now we just put it on when he gets a little red and it clears up quickly.

I would think it may be the wipes. When I switched away from Pampers wipes, to reusable cloth it helped a lot. Plus coconut oil. Of course this all happened when I switched from Swadlers to Baby Dry diapers. WHen I went back to Swadlers and the wipe change (at the same time) it all cleared up.

@Adira: Gotcha, we're in size 4s so no help here sorry! We've used those, and baby naturecare/naty off amazon and had happy skin. You could also check your local whole foods or organic section of your grocery store for a chlorine/dye free diaper.

@zippylef: Okay, maybe I'll just try switching to Huggies! Thanks for the info!!!

@scg00387: He's currently in size 2, although I think he could fit into size 3 soon. I wish I could try cloth, but my daycare doesn't do cloth, so I have to use disposables.

ETA: If you have that size, how many do you have? I might need a whole pack just to see if it clears up because I'm guessing it'll take a few days...

@Adira: What size is he in? I could mail you a few seventh generations to try if you wanted so you don't have to buy a whole pack. I would guess it's something in the diapers. My LO has sensitive skin and we usually do cloth - we tried using up the disposables the hospital gave us and he rashed immediately.

@Adira: We switched back to Huggies. I swear. We used Pampers for like 2 months, they were great. All of a sudden, she broke out in a massive rash that lasted, no joke, 3 months. We fought it and fought it until a friend told me to stop using the Pampers. Lo and behold, 3 days later the rash was gone.

It's the diapers. Pampers do the same to C and it stopped as soon as we switched. We used them for a long time without issue before the problem started.

@Adira: Yes, the same ones that Hilsy85 linked to. They don't feel "slippery" like normal wipes, like you can tell there isn't any soap or whatever on them, so they might take a little getting used to, but I think they do the job just fine. And for me it's worth it not to have to worry about wipe chemicals.

@Beehive: Do you use the same water wipes that @Hilsy85: linked?

I was actually thinking maybe I need to try Honest diapers. I love Pampers Swaddlers, but if they are causing irritation, obviously I want something different!

@Hilsy85: That's what I was going to recommend! @Adira: We use water wipes - J doesn't have sensitive skin, but I like the fact that there aren't any chemicals in them at all - just water and a little grapefruit seed extract.

A lot of my mom friends are using Honest diapers instead of Pampers Swaddlers - I think they don't have the same chemicals in them that Pampers have. We use the swaddlers, but I've been toying with the idea of switching - people like how the Honest diapers fit. The only downside is you need to order them from the Honest website, from what I understand.

I'm also wondering, if I did switch wipes/diapers and that was the problem - how soon should I see an improvement? I'm wondering how many diapers I should get just to TEST... ugh, this is so frustrating.

@cmomma17: Hmm... yeah, I mean, the dry skin IN his diaper area doesn't look like the eczema that's outside his diaper area, so maybe it's different. But it's red and dry and he scratches at it. And then he has clear eczema patches behind his knees and other places and he scratches at them too. And I don't know what's wrong with his forehead - it LOOKS fairly okay, but he's constantly scratching there too!!! I feel so bad!!! :(

Just called the pediatrician and a nurse is going to call me back. I just want to help my baby and give him some relief!

@Adira: That's interesting, because from what I read, eczema usually does not affect the diaper area. So maybe it is an allergic reaction? C doesn't have any patches on his tush or in his bikini area (lol, wasn't sure what else to call that!).
I give cream to my mom and MIL and they never use it during the day either! C is so dry, poor baby. But poor Xander with his scratching!! I'd definitely give the ped a call.

@cmomma17: It's mostly the skin inside the diaper, but he definitely has some eczema patches on the outside too. I've started putting Aquaphor on him everywhere, but I only can do it morning and night because he's at daycare the rest of the day and although I gave them some Aquaphor to use, I'm not sure they are using it. :(

And no, I didn't get anything from his pediatrician yet. Though I think I'll call today and ask. He's so so itchy, I feel so bad! :(

@hilsy85: Thanks for the suggestion! I'd never heard of water wipes - I'll have to look into that!

Did you ever get lotion from his pediatrician?
Is it the skin outside of his diaper (like his thighs) or is it inside?
C gets some of his worst eczema patches on his upper thighs. I think he is more irritated there by rides in his car seat than by his diapers and wipes (we use huggies natural/sensitive at home and MIL has different huggies). The only thing that helps C is using his prescription cream + Aquaphor. We try to do both twice a day (but of course some days it just doesn't happen!).
C is not itchy though, like Xander.

So Xander has really sensitive skin and eczema. Lately I've noticed that the skin around his diaper is red and dry and he scratches at it constantly, so it's obviously bothering him.

We've been using Pampers Swaddlers and Pampers Natural (and sometimes Sensitive) wipes. I'm not sure if the diapers or the wipes or neither is the problem!

Does anyone have any suggestions?? I feel bad for my little guy. :(
