@Arden: oh and forgot to tell you I found some awesome tops at nordstrom rack that are long enough to be worn with leggings (cover butt). Both are button ups and they had a slew of colors! They were about $30 each I think

You are on the right track with the chambray thread - button down shirts can be casual, dressy and comfortable! J Crew has nice ones but I get most of mine from target, Gap and LOFT.

This is the shirt I have in a yellow gingham: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=34609&vid=1&pid=452389002. It's not too fitted which is nice but it looks good. It looks cute with a v neck button cardigan too. I found mine for $20 in the sale section at the gap store. Usually stores have better sales than online IMO.

Cardigans were probably my go-to as a nursing mom - I had some nursing tanks I'd wear underneath. It was easy but chic. My favorite cardigan is from Ann Taylor Factory but it's out of season. Most stores sell the lighter cardis this time of year.

Dresses were a go to for summer - deep v necks with a nursing tank underneath is a good option as you won't stretch out the neckline. Also button up dresses like Shopaholic posted - there are some cute chambray style dresses out there!
button up dress: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=82420&vid=1&pid=452667042
crossover/wrap dresses: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=82417&vid=1&pid=352645002, http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=82424&vid=1&pid=599272012, http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=93257&vid=1&pid=131869082

I didn't mind pulling up my shirt to nurse but didn't want to expose my stomach so I always wore a tank top (favorite are the long and lean tanks from Target) with any regular top.

@hellobeeboston: Thanks! It's actually a few years old from the Tucker for Target line. Glad I got a few different pieces because they are all flowy button-ups, like the normal Tucker line.

I live in my nursing tanks with cheap but nice stretchy tops and I also have a couple of nice button down shirts that I just pair with jeans or dress shorts.

Unfortunately I'm in NZ so can't help with specific suggestions!

Here's a button up dress (all the way) that is nursing friendly and work appropriate too, for an idea. It's Tucker for Target, but you can find similar stuff?

Dresses esp for summer. Put a caridgan pref. A color that can work with multiple dresses) to dress it up a little. Bid your on a budget, I would def check out consignment shops or or even the goodwill. I buy a lot of my clothes at sal army and I find name brands every time I go. Express, loft, jcrew. And we don't love in an expesnive area, just takes some rummanging around. The savings are amazing! Ross is also cheap.
What about some long knee length skirts?

@Arden: honestly i shop forever 21 and h&m a lot, and I'd stick with that while adjusting an fluctuatin weights. For nursing, I haven't gotten quite comfy yet with lifting tops. I wear mostly everything with button up styles at least enough to pull over to the side with nursing tanks or bras.

I love prints though, so I wear a ton of printed tops that are flowy with skinny bottoms. Did before and after baby. You can get cheap colored jeans at target and forever 21 while you're dealing with the new size.
Button up dresses work too for work. And you can wear a cardigan over it if needed in the office. On the phone so can't link anything right now... I'll post a pic of my office friendly nursing friendly dress when I get out of the car!

@Arden: If I were you I'd head to Target, Old Navy, and/or a TJ Maxx and Marshalls. If money is more of an issue I'd scour any local consignment shops you have (but that can be more time consuming, obviously.

I'm guessing you can wear capris/crops?? I would personally, for a week, buy:

-1 pair dark denim or black crops/skinnies (or whatever length is appropriate & you like)
-1 pair bright colored crops/skinnies

-4 tops

(stuff like this http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=79755&vid=1&pid=633427002 or this http://www.target.com/p/mossimo-women-s-short-sleeve-high-low-top-assorted-prints/-/A-14364080#?lnk=sc_qi_detaillink is casual and easy to roll up and tuck under your chin)

-however many tanks you prefer (if you're happy to wear more than once or wash in the sink) that you can stretch down under nursing bra (or nursing tanks)

-2 dresses (but I think it's hard to find something nursing friendly that isn't sleeveless

-2 cardigans in neutral colors.

Basically I have no clothes at all, whatsoever, because I already had a really pathetic wardrobe before and now most of those things don't fit (I was a 2/4 pre-pregnancy), now I'm a 6.

So... if you had to go out and buy basics for a post-baby body, and they need to be compatible for nursing. And conservative enough for a casual business thing - ie. no shorts, nothing sleeveless, etc.

I just wore a cami under regular shirts. Unbutton/pull up the top shirt, pull down the stretchy cami top (or pull it up if you're unbuttoning) and no one will see you're nursing. Most of my cami's didn't get stretched out even though I just yoinked the top part down a bit (I didn't bother getting nursing cami's).

I was looking at dresses for myself, and came across these:

http://www.target.com/p/merona-women-s-twill-shirtdress-w-belt-collection/-/A-14577128

A dress like this would be super cute with these sleeves rolled up, paired with boots or flats & perfect for nursing.

I'm also 7 weeks pp and I haven't bought a single nursing top. I've been wearing lots of button down shirts. This one http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=72302&vid=1&pid=523164012 from old navy has been my favorite paired with a pair of bright colored capris or shorts. They have them in a few different colors and they're pretty long, so you could probably wear them with skinny jeans.

Ok bees, I need you!

I am 7 weeks postpartum. I have purchased NO nursing clothes, and almost none of my pre-pregnancy clothes look right on my newly rearranged body.

I just found out that I have to go to a work thing THIS week. It's a week-long convention, and I'm leaving this Wednesday. DH and Vivi are coming along.

It's casual, so I don't need to worry about business-ey clothes, but I do need some decent stuff, for as little money as possible.

So here's your mission - find me CHEAP, nursing friendly, casual but put-together outfits, ideally from places that I can find at the local mall or from Amazon so I can get free two-day shipping.

My body type is... well, new mama. Size 6, double-D boobs, big butt, slightly squishy belly. I look best in fall colors (plum, warm greens, burgundy, burnt orange) and black/gray.

Help me please!!!! :P
