How big is his bottle at day care? And what solids does he eat? How has his weight gain been in general?

My LO is 11 months old as well but still nurses 5/6 times a day - once in the morning before I leave for work, 2 or 3 bottles at daycare, and usually nurses twice before bed. She also gets 3 meals a day plus a snack. She's on the small size, but always has been.

Does LO eat a lot of solids? Getting up 5 times a night at 11 months is a lot. Are you sure LO is hungry and not just comfort nursing?

When I weaned LO, she did not like cows milk mixed with breastmilk, but she took cows milk fine by itself.

@matador84: have you tried feeding him more often during the day in the hopes that he won't need it at night as much?

Could you breastfeed for half a feeding and then give him the bottle to finish as a way to transition?

well, i want to gradually give him formula and not just put some in a bottle and be like "here you go." he gets the boob morning/night and bottle at daycare 1x/day when he's there, otherwise boob at home 3x/day when he's home with me all day.

i just don't know how to gradually enter in the formula since i'm not really able to even pump a lot of bm and i have no freezer stash.

just to clarify, do you mean that you think he may not be getting enough from nursing?

i think it depends on how you feel--if you wanted to continue with some nursing and supplement with bottled formula (or primarily feed formula and supplement with nursing), that could be a good way to transition. or you could go cold turkey to formula.

sorry i'm not much help--we're only 6 months in so haven't deal with weaning yet. you must be so tired today!

Ds was up at least 5 times last night. I'm 99% sure it's because he's hungry and I've always nursed him at night more than during the day. I totally cannot do it anymore. We're about to go to the store and I'm going to pick up some formula and feed him that for about a month and then switch to cow's milk.

The only time he's ever had formula was when he was about 3/4 months I tried switching from BF but he kept vomiting the formula so I said screw it and kept bf'ing. Now, at 11 months old, should I totally switch to trying to bottle feed and wean? Drop nursing entirely? When I pump, I only get about 2-3 oz max, once a day. I don't really know where to start to transition him.
