@ElbieKay: It's mostly going to be family (only 1 or 2 very close friends), so I'm sure they won't be put out. If we were having a larger party, I wouldn't have a request like this. But because my family loves me and knows I'm crazy, I think they'll think it's fun! I polled a couple of them and they thought it was super cute. Especially for pictures. :)

Can you skip the request? Personally, I don't have anything that would qualify, and I have very little time to shop. So an invitation like they would make me feel uncomfortable.

@Greentea: @HabesBabe: Thank you! I definitely don't want the wording to be confusing! "indulge" and "attempt" are great words to use. :)

@Greentea: I think this is the best-- straightforward requests are good when you are asking guests to dress a certain way (e.g. "black tie preferred, beach casual, white party," etc.).

Honestly mine would be like this:

It's a Valentine theme! Please indulge us by attempting to wear red, white, or pink!

@ellewoods84: Thats what it says on the rest of my invite! haha. But instead of valentine, it says sweetheart.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I can't add any other graphics to the invite (I'm doing paperless post), but I really like your two options! Especially the full of heart one. Thank you!

What about a caption and then adding the preferred color palette in dots on the bottom like a paint swatch?

From head to toe please tickle yourself in pink and shades of red

Whether blush, poppy, magenta or crimson, sport a hue that is as full of heart as you!

The first thing that popped into my mind is something like.....It would be totally sweet if you could wear red, white, or pink.
Edited to add...I just googled and saw this cute invite that said: she's cute, she's sweet, she's so much fun. Our little valentine is turning one!

I'm about to send out my DD's first birthday invites and I'm not sure how to word this in a cute way. It's a sweetheart/valentine theme and I would like everyone to wear red, white, or pink. I'm totally drawing a blank and my DH is no help!
