@anonysquire: We didn't do anything to resolve it for LO. We mentioned to LO's pediatrician that she couldn't really turn her head from side to side or lay back on it (always looked one way or another while laying). She wasn't concerned so we never did anything further.

I shouldn't have said in my original comment that she could "never" lay back on it. It took a while, maybe 4-5 months but she did eventually turn her heard and lay back straight on it.

My LO's ped was worried about her head shape around 10 months. She ordered some scans and all was good!

Baby heads come in all different shapes. I think that's just him, but of course I defer to his pediatrician because they are swing him in real time

@Mrs. Jacks: sorry, I meant from this other pic about the fused plates. But do you think the back of his head in the original pic looks weird?

Hmm it does look a little odd to me. But I'm no doctor. My dd had a pretty flat head but it turned out the helmets most likely wouldn't have helped that spot (according to the neurologist we had to see), so you just never know. Hopefully it's nothing and he just "outgrows" it.

His ped first brought it up but I'm the one who made an appt with the surgeon for possible craniosynostosis. And then when we just saw her on Thursday she said he woukd need surgery to fix it. But now that it's not fused (from what I can see) I don't know what they would do surgery on.

It looks okay to me, unless there is something else- like is his head shape kinda of narrow and long? Could be something like sagittal synostosis. My LO had a similar looking skull and they did an ultrasound to rule out the synostosis. On closer inspection of my husband's head, his skull is a bit long and narrow so LO just inherited the shape. There weren't any medical issues.

@Boopers: So we just got it yesterday and haven't heard back from the doctor. We see the surgeon again on wednesday. But from my untrained eye, it looks like nothing is fused. So now I'm wondering why else his head woukd be shaped like that.

My LO has a similar shaped head and I'm worried about it too. I am going to bring it up at his 2 month appt.

I think you said in a previous post that you were going to get a CT scan, which I'm assuming these are images from that. Did your doctor seem concerned about his head shape?

ETA: here is a pic of his head which looks similar to your LO.

Ok, give it to me straight. The back of his head is weird shaped right? Or am I being picky? He can't lay on the back of his head at all.
