My favorite work lunch while pregnant (besides eating out) was open faced avocado toast, with cheese. I would take 2 pieces of toast, 2 slices of cheese, and cut up an avocado and put the slices on top of the cheese. Little fresh ground salt & pepper that I kept in my desk on top, and viola. Easy, nourishing/filling, delicious. Usually with a piece of fruit on the side.

@Mae: Both pregnancies, I had a major aversion to red sauces, so maybe try a jarred alfredo sauce on penne or something super plain like that to start. You could also make a cheese/chicken quesadilla at home...that only takes about 3 minutes. Just put some butter in a pan, put in 1 tortilla, sprinkle on shredded cheese and a little chicken, then fold tortilla on itself and grill each side till slightly brown. That's really plain.

I was so nauseous both pregnancies, I felt like I could only eat bland white foods.

My top lunches while pregnant were: soup with a side of fruit, gold fish crackers and crunchy veggies with dip, Amy's frozen burritos or meals, peanut butter or almond butter sandwiches, microwaveable steamer bags of rice with some chicken or roast beef, also hit up Kroger a lot for canned chili with Fritos but I blame cravings for that

I ate a lot of mini bagels with cream cheese, veggies and hummus, triscuits and cream cheese, and citrus fruits. I could prep at the start of the week and leave things in the fridge at work.

I love cold rotisserie chicken and would probably make a big batch of pasta salad and eat the same one for a week. Then the next week choose a different salad dressing and veggie ingredients. To add some variety to your lunch bring a different fruit or cookie everyday.

Couscous, falafel and hummus. Trader Joe's has frozen falafel.
Caesar salad or Greek salad (can add chicken)
Veggie sandwiches

I think those were the 3 lunches I ate during pregnancy. Congrats! So happy for you!

I make some chicken on the weekend and then make a wrap at work most days. I usually bring vegetables to go with it but I have gestational diabetes so I'm trying to fill up on mostly healthy stuff. One week I made a large portion of chili on the weekend and got a couple of lunches from it too. I really need to eat enough or I'll be distracted at work!

I am really struggling with what to take to work for lunch now that I'm pregnant. I find that lunch is when I feel the best/want/need to eat the most food, and if I eat a legit meal I feel better the rest of the day. When I eat a smaller/snacky meal I tend to be starving all afternoon/evening and end up feeling more crappy.

The issue is that I'm really struggling with packing substantial meals for work. I'm currently having aversions to vegetables and lean-cuisine type food. My doc is big on the no-lunchmeat thing, so I've been following that. I don't cook much at night (or ever) so I don't ever have leftovers. Also with the not cooking-- not super interested in doing a ton of cooking for work because I"m super tired.

Sigh.

Mostly the days we order in at work I end up feeling pretty good. The days I pack (which usually ends up being like, cheese and crackers or something) I feel crappy the rest of the day. But ordering in so much is expensive.

So far my only thoughts for next week's planning are to maybe get a roaster chicken I can carve up and take a few days and heat in the microwave, or maybe make a batch of pasta to take.

Any other ideas? Carb + meat + easy + microwavable is key here...
