Coupons go in a basket in the kitchen or in my purse if I will use them that week. Bills go on top of the keyboard by my husbands computer since he pays them all online. He uses his computer every night pretty much so he'll pay them before doing anything else. We struggle with the same thing! There are only 2-3 bills we actually get in the mail so we kinda look out for those. But then there are other ones that we miss that surprise us. We tried to have a basket to catch it all, but the basket was always filled with junk or just other paper that we needed to keep and file. </p> <p>Here is my filing resolution:<br /> 1. Clean out filing drawer.<br /> 2. File things in basket that need to be filed<br /> 3. Find/buy a small basket that holds 3-4 pieces of mail that will be obvious when it needs to be paid.<br /> 4. I've wanted to take over for awhile, but I'm not much better than him (although I have never come even close to having something shut off!).</p> <p>I agree that setting phone alerts will help a lot.</p> <p>I'm finding some really cool ideas on Pinterest. Only thing that has helped was to automate all of our payments online. Then it gets moved by the cleaning lady...<br /> We lose important things.</p> <p>I need a system to hold important mail (and yes I realize I should just pay things immediately when I open them, but that's too many steps ahead of where I am at).. But then I also want to keep coupons and some of the other random stuff that comes.</p> <p>What system do you use? What can I buy to help? </p>
