We have the boba 3G and love it! So easy to adjust for my height (5"3) and DH's height (6"2) and LO falls asleep in it all the time! Love the zipped pocket on the waistband for credit cards and smartphones too

Well, it's a good thing I tried them - I really thought I wanted an ergo, but LO started screaming his head off the second I put him in it! I thought I wanted something a bit more stable/supportive than the k'tan, but LO is not going along with that idea. Guess I'll just have to look into a woven wrap so that it's less stretchy and I don't have the sagging going on. My cousin, who has the ergo and a bunch of wraps, did show me some different positions and adjustments that he seemed to like better, so that was useful.

@Navy_Mommy: I have a Beco Gemini and I never used front facing, but I opted for that particular carrier because I liked that I wouldn't have to get an infant insert and it has really cute patterns.

I LOVE my Tula carrier. Since I was gifted my other carriers (Moby, Beco) I decided to splurge on this one and it's perfect :)
http://www.tulababycarriers.com/products/gray-zig-zag-tula-ergonomic-baby-carrier

@wonderstruck: How long do you plan to babywear? Lots of people love their Beco Geminis and I'm one of them but it stopped being comfortable for me--LO is long and we both love the front carry (especially when she's cranky) and her legs would hit mine in the Beco. And the back carry was okay, but I just didn't like it as she got bigger so I went with the Tula Toddler Carrier (they have a standard and a toddler).

I posted this link on another carrier thread but it has a great comparison of the Ergo, Boba 3G, and Tula.

Edited to add link: http://thehappyhippiehomemaker.blogspot.com/2013/05/ergo-vs-boba-vs-tula-carrier-comparison.html

@Foodnerd81: The instruction recommend not using those positions until he's 5+ months, unfortunately. And honestly, I just kind of like the idea of having the buckles rather than having to deal with maneuvering the fabric around. I know it's much easier to wrap than the Moby, but is still kind of a pain when I'm in a hurry and LO is fussing.

Wow, thanks for the suggestions everyone - lots of different opinions! There's a store about 50 minutes away from me that has all the carriers so that you can demo them, maybe I'll make the drive and do that since it seems to be different for every person/baby.

@littlebittyhouse: I agree Becos are much less bulky than ergos (I have a BBII). In my opinion Bobas have a similar amount of bulk to Beco.

We have a Belle, which we love. The baby can face both in and out, but it doesn't go onto the back. It comes with a newborn insert that looks kind of like a cone that dogs use after they have surgery. But without the insert, I think it allows a good range of movement. LO is almost a year and still likes being carried in it - now more facing out. She can grab things while she's still in the carrier.

@sslm: yeah, the ergo infant insert is weird. If you roll up a blanket you can put it under LO's bum to make a little seat instead of using the insert.

I have used an Ergo for the past year and just got a Beco Soliel. I am a convert!

LO and I love the Beco Soliel so much more than the Ergo! It is more comfortable, less bulky and way cuter. DH is also a big fan of the beco too.

I got a Beco Gemini over an Ergo for 2 reasons-- 1) the front forward facing option-- I don't plan on doing it a lot because I know it can be bad on their hips and my back, but I want the option in a pinch (say, going through an airport with a child who only wants to look around), and 2) no infant insert required. It doesn't hurt that the prints are super cute but that was just a bonus (we got the happy owls, DH's pick). I also don't plan to wear the baby too much past a year so I wasn't concerned with the weight limit.

BUT, baby isn't here yet so I haven't used it, just admired it in its box :)

Out of the three I would say Boba. I know lots of people that loved their ergos until they tried a Boba and I'm actually not a huge fan of the Gemini because of research that shows that wearing a Lo FFO can hurt their hips and both the wearer and wearee's lower backs.
