Just wanted to report back in that she still does not nap at daycare either! Still only doing catnaps! hahha

But daycare is tiring her out and she's asleep WAY earlier at night. She's in her crib by 7:30/8pm since being at daycare and will sleep till 6:30/7:30. Add in 3-4 30minute cat naps we're averaging 13hrs of sleep a day. Not bad for my little non sleeper! :)

My friend's daughter does NOT nap at home either But once she started daycare, she would totally nap there! i guess they see other kids napping so they have some sort of herd mentality and will nap too. So I agree with @brownie!

@regberadaisy: daycare will whip her into shape lol. My son has always slept at daycare but never sleeps at home. I really wouldn't worry about it. Try it when you can but it isn't something to stress over especially if she isn't cranky. My son now gets just cranky and nuts if he doesn't sleep a little.

What swing do you have? You may want to try a different style swing or a bouncy seat. We had one swing he hated but we got another (and a white noise maker) and he loved it.

@looch: thank you! Yea, it takes quite a few hours to get her to sleep for the night. I finally accepted she won't go to sleep if I put her down at 7pm and have pushed her routine back to 8pm.

@brownie: Nope, won't sleep in the swing either. We try every day but she's napped twice in it for an hour in the past month. She doesn't mind the crib really because when she does nap she naps fine in it! Even if she gets one hour nap in a day I'll be happy! If I'm home I'll resort to holding her so she gets some napping in but I really shouldn't because she'll be starting daycare in 3 weeks...

Oh yeah, my son hates sleep. We either held him or put him in the swing (I highly recommend one). We also had wonderful success with the Happiest Baby on the Block recommendations. He is 14 months old and now sleeps 10 hours a night (often in our bed which we don't have an issue with) and take 3 hours of naps a day. It gets better and you just have to keep working on it. Decide where your line is. We decided that sleeping in the crib wasn't working for us so we stopped pushing that and decided sleep was more important. Now, food is more important so he co-sleeps so he can nurse at night.

When my son was a newborn, getting him to sleep was an EVENT. I was really stressed because I wanted him to get his sleep so he would grow and develop properly. I tracked everything on a spreadsheet and obsessed over the number of minutes he was sleeping.

Now, my son is 18 months (he's currently taking his afternoon nap) and he's developed wonderfully. I've learned to accept that babies aren't one size fits all wrt to number of hours of sleep. My son needs less and he is an early riser. We're all happier now that I've stopped stressing out over it!

Good luck!

please tell me my baby will be OK even though she does not need to sleep!

Toddler moms, was your baby a non napper?

I would say a good 4 days out of the week my LO will NOT nap at all during the day. Except for when you are holding her. The second you put her down she wakes up! THen she does not fall asleep till like 10pm and is awake by 6am.

Toddler moms, were any of your LOs like this when they were newborn/infants? Tell me they are happy thriving toddlers now!

I "know" she's fine but it just worries me sometimes. Logically it makes sense that she would be tired. But my mom saids she'll wake from her catnap in her arms and wake up happy, eyes wide and cooing! She doesn't cry during the day really and is very alert. Sometimes I just think she's a anomaly and does not need sleep like 95% of babies!
