That sounds brutal. I would also not feed an 18 month old MOTN and I wouldn't cut the nap - if you change that at all I would maybe limit it to 2 hours and make sure he is up enough to be tired by bedtime (like no sleep later than 2/3pm) but honestly I don't think the nap is the issue. I remember there being some weird sleep issues around that time for my oldest too. Now I know that it was probably teething related (he had all his teeth incl. the back molars by 21m). We solved the problem at the time by having him co-sleep...

At 18mo I would not be giving bottles in the middle of the might. I would cio. However i have early risers so they are generally up between 5 and 6am. I do an early bedtime 6-6:30, and they have to stay in their crib until at least 5. There’s a lot going on at 18mo a regression, molars so the best you can do is stay consistent. I would also not drop a daytime nap at 18mo. Less sleep is never helpful for my kids

My 18 month old started waking at 4am for the day consistently a few weeks ago. We pushed his bedtime back an hour to 7pm for the last 3 nights and it got worse! Now he wakes at 2am for the day. If he falls back asleep it's spotty and only for 20 minutes or so then he's up!

He normally takes a 2-3 hour nap but I didn't want to cut that out for fear that lack of daytime sleep would mean worse nighttime sleep? Today after 21 days straight of this we asked the nanny to keep him up though.

He drinks whole milk and eats a variety of solid foods, a good amount of fat and protein and we feed him as late as possible. Middle of the night wake ups are a bottle change and tuck back in.

What are we doing wrong?? What should we try?
