Does he eat well with a spoon? My son's 18 months and he's been able to use a spoon for oatmeal, scrambled eggs or pastina since he was a year. There's no rule that you have to feed them savory things at dinner, I'd try something he likes for breakfast and see what happens.

We don't do any crackers, so we rely on dried cherries and blueberries, cheese sticks or slices, dried apples, fresh fruit (grapes, strawberries, raspberries, banana and pitted cherries), carrot bites, pasta, meatballs... That's all that's coming to mind at the moment.

My mom used to give us frozen peas when we were teething. We all loved it so much we only ate peas frozen until we were in our teens.

Those fruit cups work great and are easy to take along. We also get the squeeze pouches of applesauce which are great. We feed him some of whatever we are eating just in smaller pieces. He LOVES hummus so we will make hummus quesadillas and hummus on crackers or just off the spoon. Happy Baby and Ellas Kitchen have some new snacky things out that we like. And Revolution Kitchen has Jammy Sammy's.

We found success in giving my son a real fork (the smaller dessert kinds). Once you stab a piece of food he is way more inclined to put it in his mouth. Also, he'll eat (inconsistently but what isn't with a toddler) baked fish, meatballs, grilled chicken, and meatloaf. I have a weird one though as he'll eat fried okra but won't touch pasta or more standard vegetables like peas, carrots, and corn. We also give torn up mozzarella string cheese sticks, cut up strawberries, watermelon, peaches, and pears, etc. Some meals are more balanced than others but it can be so hit or miss. For snacks we do teddy grahams or animal crackers, goldfish, applesauce, fiddlesticks, fruit, string cheese, mum mums, etc. We try to limit snacks between meals because we've found that decreases my son's willingness to eat dinner . . . he's filled up throughout the day that by the time dinner comes around he is totally full.

Lo is almost 15 months old and I'll give her bananas (she loves holding them and eating them by herself). She loves holding and eating nectarines, strawberries.. Will eat grapes, berries, cherries ( I cut them in half and take the pit out).
She likes yogurt and cheese too. And fish!
Peas and corn are great too. I cook the frozen kind and give them to her.
She loves pasta too! Egg noodles and fusilli (spiral pasta)

Getting kids to eat is so stressful! Hope your Lo starts eating better for you!

We've had some issues getting DS to eat. I think once he got the pincer grasp down we were happy to hand him Cheerios and Puffs, but we realized it was getting out of control and he was snacking a lot and not eating healthy stuff. DH gives him a handful of Cheerios in the morning and after we get home from daycare, but if DS refused his dinner or didn't eat much, he'd give him more so he wouldn't be hungry. I used them mainly when we were shopping or running errands.

DS is almost 15 months old. Lately he has been refusing to eat dinner, although it's gotten better since we stopped giving him snacks and have stopped using his high chair, which he hates! I'm pretty sure we have done just about everything wrong in order to get DS eating healthy, balanced meals at the table. He has been teething a lot (all 4 molars and now all 4 incisors) so we've just been doing the best we can.

Any suggestions for healthy dinners that are easy for DS to pick up and not too messy?

We've tried chicken nuggets, turkey dogs, chicken sausage, toast with cream cheese, jam or PB, which have gone over well. I usually try to get some cooked vegetables into him as well as fruit. I'm going to try some Morning Star stuff and was thinking about trying quesadillas since they would be easy for him to hold/eat. I could stuff them with a bunch of different stuff.

Also, what kind of snacks do you feed LO while on the go? I want to try to avoid cracker-type snacks, but DS is too young for raw veggies and whole pieces of fruit. I am having a hard time thinking what healthy snacks he will be able to eat, but I don't want to continue the bad habits of giving him crackers/puffs all the time. It has to be easy to bite and chew and not too messy.

Any suggestions? Looking at the baby/toddler food aisle is no help.
