@TurtleDoves: I travelled with my LO at 8 weeks . . . what was supposed to be a 5 hour drive turned in to 7.5 hours for changing feeding stops. And in between stops, I pumped in the back seat. It was a tough trip. But we made it! And, I didn't forget to pack anything (thanks to my list!). Silver linings!

Thanks good ideas so far!!
@eeh: gooood tips! Bottle brush & laundry bags are a must. I forgot about those.
@PurpleUnicorn: luckily for us, I have mastered bathing him with me. We use his tub usually but when I'm in a hurry, he goes into the shower with me so I think we'll do that.
@MsLipGloss: good idea about the list based on what we're doing. I think we'll need hats since we will be outside most the days. As far as bottles go, i'll bring a nipple because I bought ready to feed bottles and I can just screw a nipple onto it and go! Sitting in the back feeding him won't be fun:/

We've done a few weekend trips away with Miss A so we're getting packing down to a fine art! Here's what we usually take:

* play gym
* floor mat for A
* changing pad
* stroller
* a few small toys and books
* if space is tight I'll buy nappies when we get there
* lots of burp cloths and receiving blankets for mopping up baby messes etc

We also take clothes, wipes etc

I would start by making a list going off your daily schedule, i.e., what you need and use for each portion of the day. That should give you a good starting point and let you hone in on what your essentials should be and help you not leave anything out (like a white noise machine if you use one, a special blanket, etc.). From that point, decide what you can do without or modify, i.e., maybe pack the premade 2 oz formula bottles for the car to cut down on the number of bottles you will need (you will be able to throw the used bottles away and won't arrive with several bottles already needing to be washed), etc.

thanks for this post, i am doing my first mini trip this weekend by LO bymyself! i will definitely come back to this thread. Like eeh: said, I assume I will bring double clothes for each day and extra diapers on top of calculating what i typically use. How do you bathe LO? i would pack his infant tub, but I am staying at my sister's house and she has one. I think I will pack as much entertainment that is pack-able as well, like toys, and his gym mat. I wish I could bring the swing, but I think I will be leaving that at home!

Take a bottle brush and small thing of dish soap and you can wash bottles there which means less to pack. I took 2 outfits for each day to account for blowouts and then I packed about 2 extra just to be safe. For diapers I did a count of how many we use in a typical day and then multiplied by the number of days we would be gone and packed about 5 extra just in case.

If you use a white noise machine I would be sure to pack that and any swaddle gear you use to help the atmosphere feel as much like home as possible.

I pack a mesh laundry bag so dirty clothes can go in there and when I get home I can take it straight to the laundry room and dump and I stays separate from remaining clean clothes

The most important thing to remember is that you can always buy when you get there so don't stress! If you need diapers, go buy more diapers.

We're going out of state with LO (D.C!) and it is a 7h drive. We're FF and I'd like to pack light.
Any tips? I don't even know where to start!
lO is 4m, were going for 4 days and he'll sleep in a fold out bed because we have the suite so the living room is his area.
How many outfits? Bottles (we will have a kitchen area in our room) diapers? Car supplies for 7h drive?
I bought RTF formula for the car actually.
