She made my life miserable and I complained constantly outside of work hours to my roomate, my boyfriend, my friends....who kept telling me I needed to have a sit-down with her.</p> <p>I am super non-confrontational so even though she was MY assistant, I was afraid. But she got worse and worse until I finally had to do it.</p> <p>I wrote up bullet points of what I wanted to say ahead of time and then asked her to sit down with me(away from other people) so we could talk and I just politely explained that her attitute was bringing me down, not productive, gave specific examples, gave her examples of what I wanted her to do going forward, etc.</p> <p>She cried. Like...sobbed. And said no one appreciated her, blah blah. It was EXTREMELY HARD for me to do it, but things DID get a smigeon better. Then she was let go at the end of the year (I kept my boss aprised of the situation).</p> <p>That was my first year working there and her 15th. She is probably doing it on purpose, but may not realize how obnoxious she's being. Offer her solutions for when she finds a mistake, how you would like constructive criticism delivered. Ask her the best way for you to offer your critiques for her. Our assistant is SO easily irritated. She points things out loud and clear when mistakes are made-especially when our boss is nearby. I walk on eggshells with her but she's FAAAAAR from perfect, she sits at her computer and googles useless shiz all day then acts like I'm a terrible person when I make a mistake. Guess what? Technically I shouldn't even be doing this part because it's HER job that she 'doesn't have time for'. </p> <p>Ugh. I don't know what to do bc she's been here longer but I'm sick of it. I shouldn't feel like shit because she's got a stick up her rear end. </p> <p>End rant. </p> <p>How do you deal with people like this at work?? </p>
