I have PCOS and took clomid two cycles. I ate a ton of avocados the same cycle as well as drank red raspberry leaf tea. My midwife said I had the prettiest lining she ever saw those cycles. She did not mention any link to autism. I responded well but unfortunately did not get pregnant those cycles. My midwives only do two cycles of clomid 50mg. I did lose 20lbs over the next six months which was incredibly hard, and got pregnant about a year later. For me, PCOS has significantly delayed getting pregnant but I do have a three year old and have gotten pregnant again. Best of luck and hang in there.

@LCTBQE: the vaginal dryness is only really a side effect when you're actually taking the meds (it sucks) but that is before your fertile window usually so it doesn't effect TTC in my experience.

I took Clomid to get pregnant with my first - 100mg the first month and 150mg the second month (got pregnant this cycle). I had absolutely no side effects and no issue with my lining thinning, but I remember my OB saying she’d only let me take it for 3 cycles in a row. I think the uterine thinning happens as a result of being on it for a prolonged period of time.

I didn’t take it, but thought I had read in tcoyf that in addition to thinning the uterine lining, the big drawback for clomid was that it can dry up your cervical fluid, which isn’t great for ttc. Maybe some others who’ve taken it can comment on that. Autism thing sounds awfully anti-vaxxer bullshitty, IMO.

I took Clomid to have my first, but I took it with Metformin. Metformin is diabetes medication, and it's often used off label for fertility. (My insulin levels were a little higher than the normal range, but not enough to be diabetic). Clomid didn't bother me anymore than normal PMS, but I was really sick getting used to Metformin. It worked though, and I stayed on Metformin through my first trimester to prevent a miscarriage. ---- I haven't heard any issues with Autism and clomid.

I had a decrease in my uterine lining after one cycle on Clomid, so my doctor switched me to Femera.

Took clomid with my now 5 1/2 year old daughter. She's healthy and fine. I'd never heard anything about autism.

I am currently in my 2nd cycle of Clomid and my doctor hasn't mentioned any studies about autism and I hadn't found anything recent about it while researching.it. I haven't had any lining issues at this point, but I have had some serious mood swings.

Clomid gave me mood swings for sure and did thin my lining the longer i took it. But my first is a clomid baby! I would definitely try femara/letrozole if your ob will prescribe it (it’s still off label so some do not).

I should preface by saying I never took clomid, but when I was comparing clomid and femara, the biggest issue I saw was clomid's thinning of uterine lining, so I ultimately went with femara/letrozole. I don't recall autism being a factor at all. Best of luck to you!

I've never heard of the autism link, but I do recall that there is a link to thin uterine lining and clomid. There are alternatives to clomid that don't have an impact on thin lining, and I'd ask your doctor about those (but take this with a grain of salt, because I had thin lining issues for years so I'm hyper sensitive to it!!)

Another option is letrozole. The only thing some people don't like about clomid is some people get mood swings on it. But, I didn't have that issue.

I haven’t heard anything linking Clomid and autism. It looks like most articles about it are from 2010 or so. I would think if there’s a legitimate impact there would be more recent stories about it as well.

Hi!
I was diagnosed with PCOS this week and my OBGYN recommended that I go on Clomid. I do not think that I have severe PCOS because according to OPK I do ovulate every month.

I've read some negative studies about Clomid and that it could increase the chances of a child being diagnosed with autism. Has anyone else read these studies? Are there any other alternatives to help us as we are TTC other than Clomid? I am mid 30s so I am concerned about age and how PCOS could push back my TTC timeline even more.

Thank you!
