ugh... I can't imagine! I'm such a grump when I don't get my sleep. My husband used to live in an apartment below a couple who was the worst. They used to scream at each other literally all night and then have loud intense make up sex during the day. Ew.

It'll be a visit (as I said, we've only been here two weeks - haven't even had a chance to wave hello yet) if the dog is at it again tonight. They'll get up two visits (or a visit and a letter) before I call the police. Local noise ordinances DO forbid excessive barking between 10 PM and 7 AM. While I am in the "good fences make good neighbors" boat, I'm also in the "try to be nice to your neighbors" boat.

On the plus side, I'm manically gleeful when I'm tired.

OH man I feel for you, I can't imagine! You are stronger than me, I would be sending that neighbor a very stern letter in the mail about the noise and a threat to call the Humane Society if it doesn't stop!

They leave their dogs out overnight?!?!? I would be super annoyed. We have neighbours that have a yappy bichon that we've heard barking at 11:30pm and 6am and we grumble about that. What you went through last night is totally unacceptable!

I think you must live in my mom's neighborhood. She has that very same neighbor. I only go for visits and it drives me nuts.

I'm not asking for advice here, really. Just venting.

We just moved to a new house. My reasons behind this were having a place to lock up the cats so they don't wake me up 10 times a night, not having the downstairs neighbors sexy times wake me up at random hours (she was a screamer), and living somewhere where a newborn won't disrupt the neighbors.

We've lived here for a little over two weeks now, and the sleep was awesome... For a week. And over the last week until 7:30 am, when the neighbor dog started howling and whimpering, I assume because they left for work and school. But I can take that - it was no more disruptive than my cat running around. It'd be nicer if that didn't coincide with the whole pregnant-belly-getting-big-enough-to-make-sleep-awkward phase, but whatever.

Then last night, at about 10 pm, the barking started (they have two dogs, and the bigger one has a deep, booming bark). I went to bed at 1:30 am (DH gets home at 10:30, so we sleep from about 1:30-9:30am.) At 3:30 am, I give up on sleeping in my own bed and go to sleep on the couch - I can still hear the dog, but not as loud. At around 4 or so, the dog settles down. Starts barking again at 5 until 6:30, when the neighbor finally lets the wretched beast in. I go back to my bed until 8:30 when the howling starts again. (If it happens again tomorrow with a similar degree of insanity, I'll go talk to the neighbors.)

Anyone else have anything going on in their neighborhood that is driving them batty?
