I've been with this company for almost 6 years and I love it. I have a great boss, a flexible schedule and I get to work with my husband. BUT, the salary is less than desirable and there is no where to move up from here. I haven't had any resentment yet. I told my boss I was considering a job change, and basically told her I just want to try something new, but if only I could take her with me it would be perfect (yep, kissed her butt!). Then with my coworkers, I've said "I'm thinking about applying for that xyz job they posted" and tell them it's just something I've been interested in for awhile and might take the plunge. </p> <p>Now I haven't ACTUALLY changed departments yet, so I can't tell you how it would/will pan out, but so far I haven't gotten any backlash... Even though I love the work I do, I hate the environment. My department is very negative, lazy, and dysfunctional, and after 2 years here, I think I want to make a change. I'm 5 months pregnant now, so I think I'd start looking after maternity leave ends in September, but I'm nervous! This is my first full-time job! I also don't want to leave the library, so I'll be looking to move to a different department, not a whole new company.</p> <p>Have any of you bees moved to different departments within a company? Did you find people were resentful of your move or supportive? Did you let your boss know you were going to be putting applications out? I have so many questions :p </p>
