@LindsayInNY: I know, it is inconvenient to have things drag out longer. Once I started using it I had to get used to adding 2 extra days after a negative test, so overall it really makes your cycles longer. But it's much better than worrying about losing a pregnancy you worked so hard for because you skipped a dose!

@spaniellove: Oh, interesting! I didn't think AF would come if I'm on it though? Either way, I haven't spotted and my LP isn't this long naturally so clearly it's doing its job! I suppose it can't hurt to take it tonight. Worse case is that it prolongs AF a little longer...

@LindsayInNY: Good to hear everything went smoothly! I would take tonight's dose because if you're pregnant, you don't want to be skipping doses! My clinic is adamant about never stopping the progesterone until you've confirmed a negative or have a full flow bleed on your own.

Just an update... I worried for nothing apparently. Aside from the discharge stuff from the suppository, I felt completely normal. No mood swings or any other side effects. Way to make a big deal out of nothing Lindsay, LOL! I started them at 4DPO and today is 13DPO. I'm going to POAS tomorrow (14DPO). Trying to decide whether to use one tonight or skip it, in case AF is waiting to arrive...

@spaniellove: Wooo! My expert! I think that might be what I do... 5DPO + 12 days = 17 day LP which is a bit on the long side for me! 14DPO would give me a November 1 POAS date. I like to wait for weekends and that would be perfect timing since it's just before my birthday. I guess 12 days of it would be fine if I had started right away but I was waiting to confirm O and waiting a bit too long, I guess. FX my experience is similar to yours!

@LindsayInNY: You're not nuts at all! :) Asking questions and preparing yourself with knowledge is the best thing. I didn't experience any mood shifts with the progesterone. I used it after my IUI procedures and like @spaniellove said, stopped once I got a negative beta - anywhere from 12-15 dpo. Then my period would arrive 2 - 4 days later. It did seem to lengthen my luteal phase a bit.

@Mrs.Someone: LOL I was just going to reply and saw your comment.

I've been taking this almost every cycle for the past year, 3x/day! YMMV but for me it's really been just the leakiness (going beyond the 2WW it can get more irritating). My clinic has had me stop at a negative beta so if you get a -HPT at 14DPO you can probably stop then and expect AF in around 2 days? I'm basically echoing what @Mrs.Someone: said here...

@LindsayInNY: Maybe consult with Dr. SpanielLove? I know she is a great resource on progesterone.

@Mrs.Someone: I'm hoping I don't get moody or all emotional! I feel like 12 days worth, starting at this point (5DPO), is a long time. My LP is usually only 11-13 anyways. My gyno/ob didn't seem concerned with the length, just my worries about the pre-AF spotting stuff.

I was on double suppositories and wasn't any more moody, just a little nauseous, though I was pregnant at the time. Don't be afraid of it! If I were you, I'd keep taking it until 14dpo, then take an HPT (or your final HPT ;) ) and stop if you aren't pregnant.

@LindsayInNY: It may make you moody and crazy, but it will all be worth it if it works! I don't really know anything about your questions (luteal phase and whatnot) because I took it as part of our IVF cycle which was successful. Hopefully AF never comes and you don't have to worry about it. :)

My doctor said to start progesterone suppositories next cycle since the previous one was a chemical pregnancy. I've confirmed I Oed this cycle so I don't see the harm in starting now. But I'm nervous! Sounds silly, I know. Part of me doubted I really Oed so I said I'd wait one more temperature... Well, I just checked my past cover-lines and I'm definitely post-O now. I've just heard a lot of people's experiences with progesterone... I'm worried my moods will be completely crazy or something! Reassure me please! What should I expect?! Well, other than leakiness ;) She prescribed 12 days worth. If I'm 5DPO now (O confirmed on Monday), does that mean my LP will be 17 days? Will AF not come until I stop? When should I be POASing? See, I'm nuts!!
