I think that's nesting.....same thing happened to me with both pregnancies, and it's starting to happen with this one too.

Just prioritize your list, and start at the top!

I'm nesting like a crazy person. Plus in 2 weeks are hosting a "friends-giving" so I feel extremely pushed to finish all the projects downstairs in a hurry. This weekend I made decent progress: touch up painted the entire downstairs, finished the baseboards in the bathroom and kitchen, caulked the bathroom, removed old caulk in the kitchen, touch up painted all the baseboards/ front door/ fireplace, cleaned and trimmed back the patio, washed some of the floors, and started staining our grout which I hope to finish before our appraiser for our refinance comes on Tuesday. I still have a list of 15 things to do to make the downstairs be complete at least for the next year that I hope to accomplish before the party. We'll see. If nothing else this pregnancy is definitely motivating!

I know the feeling of just wanting to get stuff DONE! and how frustrating it is when it seems to take forever. But if everything was done tomorrow, you would find more projects before your due date and still be anxious.

Your monthly plan is a great idea, slow and steady and level headed! Good luck!

I went through the same thing with DD, and am going through the same thing again now that I'm pregnant with #2! Prioritize what you really want done now and then allow yourself to be okay with the other items not getting finished for awhile. DD is two, and sleeps and entertains herself better now, so we were able to get a lot crossed off our list this summer, but I know once a new baby is here I can kiss any big projects goodbye for at least a year.

I'm going through this now, similar story to @Bernieboo: We just moved into our house a month ago and baby is due in January. I'm obsessing over all the things I want to get done in the house before that (the nursery being the obvious one but really it's the whole house.) I keep a running list of projects and on Friday let my husband know which ones are the priority that weekend. I think he wants to kill me. He just finished scrubbing the tops of the kitchen cabinets. I'm helping out where I can but have been really low on energy lately. I think it must be some form of nesting because I've never been like this before! I just feel like we need to get it all done now or we never will.

@Weswife: I ended up being unexpectedly induced at 37 weeks, so there was definitely stuff that didn't get done (we didn't even have groceries!!). I think the panic comes and goes, but take comfort in the fact that the baby doesn't need much. I would sign up for Amazon prime and/or a grocery service. That way, if you end up needing stuff, you can get it delivered. I appreciated being able to get stuff delivered so that DH could focus on the laundry, dishes, and projects, instead of running to the store. It helped my anxiety a ton to know that I didn't need to worry about what we forgot because we could get it delivered and just focus on the house stuff. Hope that helps a little!

I don't know what it is, but I went through something similar. A couple months before my son arrived, I just suddenly got this idea that the whole place needed to be decluttered. I sorted old clothes out of my closet, reorganized the pantry and the bathroom closets, etc. all in pretty much one day. Then it kind of went away, haha. I'd say prioritize and get whatever done while you have the desire and energy, because as a FTM of an 11 week old, I can say it's a LOT harder to get anything useful done than I expected. Not necessarily a bad thing, I'm thrilled to spend time with my son. But might as well get stuff done before LO arrives!

I say use whatever momentum you can to get projects done!! Sure, baby will be fine with out those things, but getting around to doing anything after having kids IS harder!

I would make a list of everything you want to do before the baby comes and then put it in order of priority. Maybe not everything will get done, but at least you will have a plan and not be stressing out about little things before big ones are done. You still have a LOT of time :)

I totally understand though... I started nesting really early. I had my whole nursery set up 2 months ago and still haven't delivered, plus we Marie Kondo-Ed the entire house, hung art, and organized all of the Christmas stuff that we keep in my parents attic. I ran out of stuff to do at the end!

@jhd: @Bernieboo: we actually have a list and have already gone through and made a way to tackle them prior to the babies arrival. Certain things to finish each month so it's not overwhelming. Unfortunately things have come up and husband isn't here so that is making me stressed... and then for some unknown reason after registering yesterday I went into freak out mode! I think my report cards being due and thinking about long term sub plans is making me nuts on top of that! Oy I just hope this feeling goes away and I can feel better

So we bought our house in June and it had a ton of projects. I was due in October. Ultimately, a ton of stuff never got finished, but it was helpful that I had a few things that are a priority. DH and I sat down and decided what absolutely needed to be done before the baby came and tried to tackle that list. We also enlisted a bunch of help after I was told to take it easy by my OB. Some stuff was just so I felt more at home and some was actually for the baby. I think both are important and if your partner agrees, do as much as you can. Good luck!

@Weswife: I felt like this a couple times before LO arrived and I think DH did too. You aren't being ridiculous! Would it help you to sit down and make a list of all the projects and talk it over with your DH? Maybe make a plan for tackling some of them? Lists always help me!

So I am in due in March and after registering yesterday all I can think about are all the projects around the house that "need" to be completed before baby arrives or we won't be ready! Of course the nursery but then the rest of it actually has nothing really to do with the baby.... examples, concrete walkway in backyard poured, pantry redone, living room floors finished, and many more!!! Am I just being ridiculous? I know the baby will ultimately function just fine without these things but I feel like our house won't be completed, as organized, etc. if they aren't done.
