It works wonders for colds, I don't usually take real cold medication. Occasionally my nose is so stuffy that nothing comes out, but I just try again later. It's also good to use once in awhile if your house is very dry. I use mine in the shower and just close my eyes so I can't see what comes out. If the actual neti pot seems too difficult to use, there are squeeze bottles with special nozzles on them that do the same thing.
