@Ms.Mermaid: I think I still have a big bag from last time, need to pull it out! It never made a big dent in my swelling but it did help the discomfort for sure.

I just got out of an epsom salt bath and I feel amazing. I might be imagining myself being less swollen, but highly highly recommend. It's apparently mostly magnesium which is better absorbed through the skin? I dunno, but definitely try it!

@Shantuck: ooh! I would gladly do aerobics with old ladies or whomever for an indoor pool! Looking into it for sure

@bhbee: I drank the raspberry leaf and nettle tea. I used the Traditional Medicinals brand purchased from Amazon. I drank it every day during the third trimester to speed up labor. I can’t say it did anything for my swelling (or if it did, I hate to know how swollen I would have been). I also did a lot of Epsom salt baths (in addition to my pool recommendation) so that might also be worth a try.

Re: the pool. I signed up for a prenatal water aerobics class at an indoor facility with my first (July due date). It was an obnoxious class that I tolerated solely for the pool access. :silly:

@bhbee: I buy mine loose leaf. I mix it with some peppermint leaf as well - which is fine until you nurse and then can reduce milk supply! That helps with flavor. I sweeten with a bit of honey and like it over ice. I've bought mine from various companies but my favorite company recently closed. Mountain Rose Her s is a good one, too. :)

@coopsmama: is there a brand you recommend? I can’t say I’m really into herbal tea but I could probably force myself if it helped

Yes. I drink lots of nettle and red raspberry leaf tea in my third trimester for this reason. 3-4 cups a day. It really does help! I've done that for my last 3 babies with no issue. (Also, red raspberry leaf tea will not put you into labor like is widely believed but it does tone the uterus so some women are more sensitive to it - may be worth doing some additional research before you try it.)

@Shantuck: I was actually just talking to my ob about this. We will probably visit some community pools but I don't know how to weigh the hydrostatic pressure benefit against being in full sun when it's 100+. Guess I'll just have to try it!

I took extra magnesium at the blessing of my OB for painful charlie horses when pregnant but I can't speak to the other items. Do you have access to pool by chance? With both of my pregnancies, just walking in the pool would completely deflate my swollen legs for a day or so until I would wake up the next day swollen again. However, that temporary relief was amazing....

I’m about 30w and it’s been close to 100 here (and going to stay that way or worse) so my swelling is picking up fast. My ob says I carry super low which makes it worse. I lost 35 pounds the week my last baby was born (in January!!).

My crunchy prenatal chiro today recommended taking nettle plus potassium/magnesium/calcium (I think she said those three were all in the emergency-c packs you add to water).

Anyone have experience / advice? I know herbal stuff is not always thought of as safe. I know I can ask the ob just figured I’d crowd source too
